CURRENT MISSION
To explore, adventure, and remain in a state of constant wonder
ABOUT ME
I just graduated from UC Berkeley's landscape architecture department and am moving to San Francisco in fall. Right now, I am traveling all over Europe for the summer. So far on this journey I have visited Amsterdam, Berlin, and Romania, and plan to travel to Zurich, Rome, Barcelona, Brighton, and London before heading back to California. Some of my favorite places in the world are Big Sur, CA, and Black Rock City, NV. I am currently working on an installation for this year's Burning Man festival--a room sized camera obscura with various optics filters--one is kaleidoscopic, one changes the hue of the image, one projects tiny rainbows all over it... hopefully more to come! I love drawing, painting, botany (especially succulents), hiking, traveling, costumes, and meeting new people.
PHILOSOPHY
"As a whirlpool in water, you could say because you have a skin you have a definite shape you have a definite form. All right? Here is a flow of water, and suddenly it does a whirlpool, and it goes on. The whirlpool is a definite form, but no water stays put in it. The whirlpool is something the stream is doing, and exactly the same way, the whole universe is doing each one of us, and I see each one of you today and I recognize you tomorrow, just as I would recognize a whirlpool in a stream. I'd say 'Oh yes, I've seen that whirlpool before, and it's always there.' So in the same way when I meet you tomorrow, I recognize you, you're the same whirlpool you were yesterday. But you're moving. The whole world is moving through you, all the cosmic rays, all the food you're eating, the stream of ...steaks and milk and eggs and everything is just flowing right through you." --Alan Watts
"I had always heard your entire life flashes in front of your eyes the second before you die. First of all, that one second isn't a second at all, it stretches on forever, like an ocean of time... For me, it was lying on my back at Boy Scout camp, watching falling stars... And yellow leaves, from the maple trees, that lined my street... Or my grandmother's hands, and the way her skin seemed like paper... And the first time I saw my cousin Tony's brand new Firebird... And Janie... And Janie... And... Carolyn. I guess I could be pretty pissed off about what happened to me... but it's hard to stay mad, when there's so much beauty in the world. Sometimes I feel like I'm seeing it all at once, and it's too much, my heart fills up like a balloon that's about to burst... And then I remember to relax, and stop trying to hold on to it, and then it flows through me like rain and I can't feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life... You have no idea what I'm talking about, I'm sure. But don't worry... you will someday. " --Lester Burnham
