CURRENT MISSION

I am eager to host people traveling through upstate New York! I just retruned from a year of traveling and am now finishing up my college degree and enjoying being reunited with wonderful friends and family stateside.

ABOUT ME

I am the youngest of three sisters and come from a close, Jewish family. Some interesting facts about me are that I have no sense of smell and performed in a circus for many years. I love animals and nature. I don't have a favorite color and enjoy spending time upside down or in bed. My favorite foods are mostly fruit but I also have a bad sweet tooth. My childhood hero was Jane Goodall and I wanted to be just like her.

PHILOSOPHY

My family is very close so I value family ties. In Minnesota, where I grew up, the values center around hard work and kindness. I believe that when at all possible people should go out of their way to be kind to others and give them respect.

Democrat. Environmentalist. Believe in civil rights and it is ultimately unjust to discriminate against people based on their race, gender, religion, or sexual orientation.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I like to learn about something before I do it and reflect and discuss the experience afterwards. Sometimes I talk too much when I would rather listen to what other people have to say. My favorite topics to discuss include politics, gender issues, inequality dynamics, history, and books. I like meeting new people but am often more comfortable with animals than humans. I like adventures but would not call myself impulsive.

I couchsurfed just a bit while in studying abroad in England.

Interests

Going out to coffee with friends. Attending festivals and public events especially if they're free. Going dancing. Hiking, canoeing, and camping. Bike riding. Visiting museums. Reading. Playing with animals. Learning. Hanging out in parks.
At school I focus my studies on how globalization and flows of information (both informal and the corporate media) affect international relations (culturally and politically).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Being in the circus allowed me to do incredible things and I certainly miss leaping into the big-top in aerial acts.
Swimming at sunset and eating ants in the Amazon.
Some of the most breathtaking things I have seen in my life include Michelangelo's David, the Galapagos islands, the inauguration of Barack Obama, the architecture of Cartagena Colombia, Niagra Falls.

Teach, Learn, Share

I was in a youth circus for all my childhood so I can teach a few skills such as basic gymnastics and unicycling. I can knit but am not a very good cook. Having worked with kids for most of my life I know countless activities, riddles, and games for any situation. I can dance basic salsa.
