About Me
(2023 update)
Hi, I'm Moritz from Germany. I am living the digital nomad life for over 3 years now. I'm into slow travel and usually stay in a place for at least a month.
My desire for exploring cultures started while studying abroad. Then, after 2 years at Berlin tech startup, I realized that routine, commuting, and weeks passing without making experiences is making me unhappy and I needed to change something. I found a remote job and left Berlin. Smells like freedom.
Since then I've lived in Ukraine, Turkey, Caucasus countries, Mexico, and more recently a few places in South East Asia. I like it, it's sustainable, but sometimes I feel this lifestyle is due to lack of good alternatives. Maybe one day, I find joy and peace of mind in settling down again.
I don't really surf or host anymore - got spoiled by the luxury of Airbnbs (ok rarely spontaneously hosting). But happy to hangout, let's grab a coffee or do other things introverts do. Probably not joining the next big CS meetup or the club.
Lastly, not a fan of these "CS is not tinder" comments. You meet and you see how things go, that has always been the way for me. No hidden intentions but with potential. Why limit yourself. Looking back, sometimes meetings turn into dates. Made good memories - can’t feel guilty for that. That's life.
Taller than you think :p
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like the idea behind it. Travelling is important for your own education but it's expensive when you're studying. Meeting locals + having a couch for free is a great answer.
Interests
Explore new countries and cities, meet new people, experience, learn. Some call it travelling :). I love deep discussions, challenges and ways my mind never walked before.
Music, Movies, and Books
All kinds of genres, minimal electro and older stuff, pink floyd, 80s, 90s, some mainstream.
Movies I also enjoy but I don't watch alone, only when sick. My favorites: Interstellar, The Martian, Prestige, Django, Donnie Darko
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach English and German. Unfortunately I can't cook but I enjoy to prepare food together. Can teach you computer stuff - for the rare case you're interested in that
