Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As I won't be traveling for some time, I'm starting off at couchsurfing by hosting people.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Since I'm not traveling at the moment, I joined the community and started off by hosting people. The experiences so far were great, so I will keep going.

Intereses

As probably most of you people on CouchSurfing do, I love traveling and I feel very lucky to have seen amazing places on this earth. I find traveling a great way of making new friends and gaining further understanding of different cultures as well as their languages. I'm working as a journalist at a local website featuring event notes, restaurant recommendations, movie and music reviews as well as general information on our city, which is the third largest in Switzerland: On a global scale it may seem pretty small town like yet it is very lieveable. It can be very vibrant too, depending on the weather and ongoing events. There are so many things I enjoy such as socializing with friends, music in all sorts of ways (listening, collecting, playing the guitar and drums in the local style, going to concerts), sports, i.e. playing tennis and football (the european style, known as soccer to Americans, South Africans or people from down under), attending football games of our local champions, swimming in the river, having barbecues, watching movies, documentaries and sports on tv, reading novels, going out for a beer or two, going out for dinner and parties and so on. In short: I enjoy all the things that make a life worth living, this includes food of course. I'm not a good cook but a great eater;-) As such, I'm very open for literally any style of cuisine.

Música, películas y libros

Movies: I adore Scandinavian movies for their dark sense of humor and the languages that sound like music in my ears. I get to see many movies because of my job but I'm still not a movie expert. Anyway, a good movie for me is one that stays in my mind.

Music: I found out that I love many Rock'n'Roll bands from the western strip of the UK (can't be a coincidence). Oasis, Stereophonics, Beatles, The Verve, The Joy Formidable, Manic Street Preachers, Biffy Clyro, Travis, Charlatans, Stone Roses, Shed Seven and so on.

And then on the other hand I enjoy everything groovy with guitars, Jimi Hendrix, The Who, AC/DC, Stones, U2, Queen, Lenny Kravitz, Coldplay, The Black Keys and one of my absolute favs the belgian Black Box Revelation, whatta band!

I adore Soul and Funk and got nothing to say against some pounding dance music as well. Left to say I also enjoy old school rap and hip hop.

My recommendation to discover all you've ever dreamt of in terms of music: Spotify, what a genious app for music!

Books: I enjoy books with a connection to historic events. A book that really impressed me was The Shadow of the Wind by Spanish author Carlos Ruiz Zafón.

Algo increíble que he hecho

- Kayaking and canoeing on rivers and lakes in southern France and in Canada
- Raising the cup of Swiss Football Champions FC Basel and even drinking champagne out of it as the team was mingling with their fans during the celebrations at the local bars
- Witnessing FC Basel kick out Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League at the stadium
- Walking on the Chinese Wall, watching threatened fresh water dolphins in a Cambodian river, encountering giant iguanas, scorpions, tarantulas and almost stepping on a venomous snake in the Thai jungle, swimming through an erosion formed tunnel into a lagoon with torches on our heads, seeing Uluru in the heart of Australia...
- How in the world should I pick just three moments?;-)
