About Me

CURRENT MISSION

live up to it

ABOUT ME

I currently work as a free lance journalist and photographer after finishing my MA in American Literature and Latin American Studies at the University of Hamburg in 2008. I'm looking forward to exchanging thoughts and stories and there is no better way to get to know a place than meeting the people actually living there.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that everybody has an interesting story to tell as long as someone is willing to listen to it open minded.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I started couchsurfing for my extended trip through the USA in 2008 leading up to the elections and got to stay with and meet all kinds of interesting and open people. Since I've couchsurfed in Germany, the US, Syria and Lebanon and have nothing but good things to say about the project. I've also lived in shared apartments for the last seven years which is kind of like couchsurfing.

Interests

I am interested in music, I've always read a lot, I love taking photos and looking for interesting spots to take them, I used to believe I could be a professional basketball player and even though I never surpassed 5'11 and quite frankly wasn't all that good, I still like to shoot some hoops almost as much as soccer, travelling, meeting all kinds of people, I'm really interested into anything considering Latin America. Music, Movies, and Books

At the moment I am reading some Paul Auster, Vargas Llosa, I've gotten into Graphic Novels a while ago (through reading 'Blankets' at a couchsurfer btw. Movies are one of my passions, too hard to pick a favourite. I am listening to any music I come across, I always love to get to know music from places I travel to. From the last trip to Lebanon I especially liked armenian singer Lena Chamamian. I usually like any kind of folk/singersongwriting.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I walked more than 1000 km from Hamburg to Basel through all of Germany with a group of seven to raise money for our charity project Viva con Agua in the spring of 2008.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would definetly like to improve my Spanish. It used to be allright but is pretty much gone now.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Denmark, France, Greece, India, Ireland, Italy, Kenya, Lebanon, Morocco, Netherlands, Norway, Peru, Spain, Sweden, Syrian Arab Republic, United Kingdom, United States
