About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Sort life out. Make money from my website. Improve as a teacher. Get my Masters.

ABOUT ME

In March 2006 I quit my job, sold my house and travelled halfway around the world. Twice. So far. I was *incredibly* happily attached to someone who started their trip 6 months before me and I met up with her in Thailand before moving on to Oz and NZ with her. She then decided she liked a Kiwi lawyer with 2 cars and a big house better than a backpacker. C'est la vie.

After a couple of years, I came home and re-trained as a teacher. I now work in a very nice school in Glasgow and am married to a beautiful wife and have three awesome kids who only annoy me most of the time. My wife and I, much as we are great friends, have decided to separate so I'm now allowed/encouraged to travel again to give us both some space away from each other.

I also run a website that started as a hobby and has now turned into a (unpaid) part time job - the Moshville Times. Feel free to Google it.

If you want to see what I'm up to then check out my travel blog or follow me on Twitter. If you're really desperate, try and find me on facebook.

PHILOSOPHY

Treat other people as you'd like to be treated yourself. I'm utterly non-religious but rather karmic.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Just keeping my profile up to date. If you want recommendations on places, hostels and so on - message me! Check the rest of my profile for places I've been, or look on my blog. With the family in the house, I can't accommodate, but I may be looking to rent or buy a place of my own in the new year. If so, then I will try my best to ensure I have a spare bed/couch.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Started with several friends and two sets of lovely people I met on here while in Australia. Then a couple more. Then about 15 different people as I walked across Europe for charity.

Interests

Football (Newcastle United, Gateshead, Whitley Bay...), Computers, "Popular" science, Films, Books, Rather loud rock/metal music, Krav Maga

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: will try anything.
Books: Douglas Adams, Terry Pratchett, and many more.
Music: Slayer, Slipknot, Anthrax, Iron Maiden, Soilwork, Judas Priest, Exodus, Sepultura...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Maybe a bit weird, but I used to work at a vets'. I helped in the birthing by caesarean section of several Staffordshire Bull terriers. Not my kind of dog but the feeling of something literally coming to life in your hands is something I simply cannot put into words.
Oh, and tandem skydiving over Lake Taupo in New Zealand. WOAH!
And working with tigers in Kanchanaburi, Thailand. Waking up at 7am to shampoo a 6-month old cub is something special.
And watching the Barrier Reef spawn while SCUBA diving at night.
And seeing one of my closest friend's baby daughter the day after she was born... in New Zealand.
And sleeping on a roof in Jerusalem.
And actually walking 1000 miles across Europe for charity.
And released baby turtles into the sea off Gili Air, Indonesia.
And fathering a baby girl of my own.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can fix your PC in exchange for a couch! And I'm *more* than happy to talk about where I've been and recommend places etc. I could give you some basic Krav Maga lessons as well.
