About Me

Natural-born curious person, open-minded, prone to be amazed by variety of peoples, foods, languages, concepts and life stories. Moved by the will to know the world through experiences, I started travelling alone at the age of 16 (2005) to Eskilstuna, Sweden, and then a series of countries followed.

I always moved by job opportunities, willing to visit friends from abroad, curiosity or love. I used the opportunities to travel and get immersed into different cultures... I have been living with locals in France, Germany, UK, Sweden, Russia, and more briefly in Morocco, Austria, Portugal, Belgium and Switzerland. Sharing my time with them, learning their languages, and trying everything possible to enrich my life in experiences.

With the years I have learnt that there is truth and beauty... beyond every path of the way, beyond every corner of the world. The only needing is to watch carefully at the little details of life.

Make the whole world your confort zone.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on Couchsurfing to avoid tourist stereotypes and mix up with local peoples -or residents- and share experiences with them. Humankind is one!

Interests

I am currently working on a PhD in the two nerdiest things ever: archaeology and genetics (yes, it has to do with Jurassic Park-ish things).

As a scientist I have developed curiosity for all scientific knowledge, but also for arts and human studies such as History, Politics, Philosophy, Literature and arts, and music.

Hobbies: learning languages, participating in excavations, cooking, travelling. I am happy to say my job is my hobby, too.

Music, Movies, and Books

Authors: big fan of end of XIX and beginning of XX-century writers, especially Russian (Chejov, Dostoievski, Tolstoi, Gogol), English (Victorian writers), but also German (Hesse, Kafka), Spanish and spiritual (Lao Tse, Tagore, Gibran, Buddhism) and philosophy (Nietzsche).

Comics: a lot. Still discovering. Marjane Satrapi, Guy Delisle, Hergé, Hugo Pratt...

Music: Post-rock, jazz, blues, balkan, ska, rock, metal (at small doses), hiphop, r'n'b and everything that can make me move my body. Swing dancer.

Movies: everything mindblowing (Christopher Nolan movies), also timetravel (The butterfly effect, Primer, Triangle), sci-fi, Pixar and all those that motivate me to watch it again to understand it. Favourite: Donnie Darko.

Food: experiments. I like to cook for myself and share. Mediterranean cuisine, Middle Eastern (I learned a couple of tips from Turkish and Iranian friends) and everything that looks like grandma-made. Not a big fan of fast-food and microwave pre-made dishes.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Worked at mass graves from the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) unearthing forgotten people affected by war crimes while their families had waited decades to recover the bones.

Had a walk at a desolated volcanic landscape in Canary Islands. The silence was so absolute that I could hear my own blood bumping in my ears.

My family has been for 7 years enrolled in temporary adoptions with children that had been abandoned/not in the best conditions with their families. Watching them stand up and thrive was a fuel for our everyday.

I have dug up 300000-years-old bones and tested to see whether I could get DNA from them.

Teach, Learn, Share

Sharing your life and letting the unexpected people or things to come and pass by is the best way of having a deep knowledge of the world, and of yourself.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Experiences, day- and night-long conversations, learning about how the world works, cooking (my experience is growing little by little), sharing presents or moments, teaching languages (Spanish, English, German...)
