About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Living lightly on the earth, with laughter and community
ABOUT ME
One of my traveling friends is a wonderful woman I met on a flight from Germany. One of the things I love about her is how much we laugh, and laugh, and laugh when we're together. Another wonderful travel friend's quiet, reflective manner feeds my soul. I like planning what to do when traveling, then changing plans, especially if a host or hostess has some other idea. Welcoming opportunities provides great experiences!
PHILOSOPHY
Laughter is good for your immune system. I seek to have the warp and weft of my life include connecting with the many amazing people in my constellations, working for social justice, appreciating beauty, and stretching and changing what I know/believe to be "true."
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Now retired, but busier than ever, How did I ever find time to work? Volunteering locally in anti-racism, LGBTQ solidarity and education, funeral choice and other social justice work. I'm also blessed to be a programmer on our local community-college radio station, WGDR, giving voice to stories of connection and spiritual quest, to music and poetry. I love living in a rural area, amid the beauty of nature...
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
As a host, and as a Couchsurfer myself less often. Have always had great experiences as both host and CSer. And I talk about Couchsurfing and how great it is all the time, with friends, and strangers!
Interests
Alternative energy (love my wind turbine, photovoltaic panels, solar hot water and heating panels, and pellet stove); being quiet in natural settings; chocolate; visiting new places and meeting new people; visiting old friends and familiar places; supporting in mind and spirit social justice efforts to bring well-being to a greater number of souls on this planet; learning to ride horseback enough to compete in a gymkana next summer without falling off (or without falling off too hard!); playing with the kitty; sailing on the lake at a good clip; seeing others shine.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love classical music and jazz, and some newly composed music by local musicians like Cody Michaels. I love poetry and probably have 20-30 poetry books, which include poetry from various cultures. I like historical novels, particularly those that expose me to cultures and social justice quests I'm not already familiar with, and history books as well. I love Michael Moore's movies, although they make me weep and knash my teeth, and films that touch my heart, but don't include gratuitous violence. (No Clockwork Orange for me!)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Scared my future husband sailing VERY fast on a Laser II on Buzzards Bay, Cape Cod, Massachusetts, laughing and laughing. Still laughing when my payback came a month later climbing up a crevice on the way to the top of Hunger Mountain in Vermont.
Teach, Learn, Share
Happy to weed flower gardens and to share knowledge about flower gardening. Love to bake great German tortes here and in others homes (and I can cook classic cakes (chocolate, banana, etc) without a recipe or measuring cups. Can also put together other main dishes w/ and w/out meat on short notice without recipes. And love to share my knowledge. Love to share others' knowing on my radio shows, and favorite stories for kids.
