About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Exploring within and without, sharing what I learn, and not wasting a drop of this life.

ABOUT ME

My website: WWW.LEHMANIMAGES.COM
My abandoned blog: www.waywardmoot.blogspot.com
On Youtube: JediBenito

Returned Peace Corps Volunteer on the loose! I hiked the Pacific Crest Trail 2,200+ miles from Mexico to Canada as my "transition back to the real world" hahaha.... I enjoy making some incredible friends and living each moment to the fullest. Hope to see you wherever your adventure den may be.

Travel experience:
Extensive outdoors experience all over the United States. I lived and worked in Wrangell-St. Elias National Park in Alaska as a backcountry ranger.
Later I lived and worked for a year in New Zealand (Tongariro National Park on the North Island).

In the Americas I've been to Costa Rica, Canada, Belize, Guatemala, Mexico, Jamaica, Peru, and Ecuador in addition to extensive travel within the U.S. In Europe I´ve spent some time in parts of France, Germany, and Switzerland. Would LIKE to go to Antarctica, Australia, more of the Pacific Islands, and Russia, among many other places...

Major interests include all kinds of travel, philosophy, photography (I was published in a few Ecuadorian publications and worked for National Geographic at Explorer's Hall in Washington, DC ... not as a photographer though!), music, and food. I guess that I'm pretty much your basic human being with a penchant for learning and adventure.

PHILOSOPHY

#INFINITELOVE

Be. Here. NOW.

Not all who wander are lost.

A path cannot be taught. It can only be walked.

Don't look at the finger, look where it's pointing.

We are what we do, especially what we do to change who we are. - Eduardo Galleano

A.I.O. Adapt. Improvise. Overcome.

Use the Force.

I can't stand passing up a hot spring without soaking in it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm keen to experience it all. Meeting, greeting, hosting, crashing, taking dogs and guinea pigs for walks -whatever that means- I'm interested in participating. Couchsurfing is great for putting like-minded and not-so-like-minded people together, and from that union experience and ideas spring forth. Creative energies in motion. How cool is that?

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted folks at my Peace Corps place in Zaruma with great results. Wonderful way to get to know others and share enthusiasm for the world and experiencing that which it offers. In the States I've surfed in California, Oregon, Washington, and Louisiana. Haven't had a single negative experience through couchsurfing and hope to keep it that way.Hosted in: Ecuador, Southern Louisiana, and Yosemite.Surfed in: Guayaquil, Ecuador. Quincy, South Lake Tahoe, Stockton, and Bishop California. Bend and Portland, Oregon. Lake Chelan, Washington. Baton Rouge and Lake Charles, Louisiana.

Interests

The outdoors. Backpacking, hiking, camping, caving, climbing, sailing, mountain biking, and any other types of exploring that are out there to enjoy. Philosophy. Meditation. Keeping fit and flexible. PHOTOGRAPHY. Geocaching. Reading. Writing. About whatever the heck there is to learn about. Meeting and talking with others about the mundane and the insane. Food. Eating whatever the heck there is out there to eat. (Except olives. Haven´t found an olive that I like yet.) Doing stuff naked.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Nearly got smashed to death by an overturning mine cart I was riding Indiana Jones-style deep down a gold mine shaft in my Peace Corps site in southern Ecuador.

Cliff-jumped into the frigid waters of the purest, clearest lake in the world. (Crater Lake, OR) OK that was two.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can show you how to rip a regular old apple in half with your bare hands. I could teach some basic to intermediate Spanish as well. Would you like to learn a few basic moves spinning poi? I can help. Ever tried Geocaching? It's fun, free, and addictive. I'll show you how to get started.

I can also share some basic to intermediate yoga poses and pranayama practices if you're interested...that would be great because then I can practice too and that can be hard to do on the road!

What I Can Share with Hosts

See above... also stories of global derring do, lost dreams and broken hearts, a few tunes on the harmonica, simple tricks and nonsense - nerd trivia....etc.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belize, Canada, Cayman Islands, Costa Rica, France, Germany, Guatemala, Jamaica, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico, Switzerland
