About Me

CURRENT MISSION

finish grad school, then travel!

ABOUT ME

I'm 30, living in beautiful Bozeman, MT while I'm finishing up a master's degree in environmental science. I just got married in July 2008. My lovely wife Shannon is finishing her PhD. I love to be outdoors, especially the mountains: hiking, running, sking/snowboarding, rock climbing, biking, sailing, frisbee, whatever. I also love taking photos of the natural world. I used to teach at an all girls high school near Los Angeles...that was an adventure!
Shannon and I went to Italy and Switzerland for our "pre-wedding honeymoon" (June 2008). After we finish grad school, we are moving to Sofia, Bulgaria (August, 2009) to teach. We hope to travel lots around Europe, Middle East, and Asia from our base in Sofia. Looking forward to meeting people as we travel, seeing "local" culture, learning about your customs/opinions, all that. I'm even interested in discussing politics and world affairs with you. :)

PHILOSOPHY

"I would rather be ashes than dust!
I would rather that my spark should burn out in a brilliant blaze than it should be stifled by dryrot.
I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet.
The proper function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them.
I shall use my time."
--- Jack London

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We've hosted a few folks in Bozeman and showed them around in our hometown (we're not far from Yellowstone National Park)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I loved my homestay in Costa Rica when I was taking spanish lessons (although I paid for this).
Whenever I take road trips in the US, I often plan my route around where I know friends.
