ABOUT ME

Hello everyone! I'm Shaun, born in Alberta having lived in Calgary for 13 years. I've attended the University of Calgary, Banff Centre for the Arts, the University of Toronto, and SAIT (Southern Institute of Technology).

I'm currently a master electrician working all around the city. Prior to being an electrician I was a classical musician. I played the oboe in professional and semi-professional orchestras across Canada including the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra.

I think my greatest strength in life is my ability to make friends and have fun with people. I have many friends in music from outside of the country and I love meeting knew people. I consider myself a pretty laid back and easy going guy.

PHILOSOPHY

My personal philosophy is to continue learning and apply the knowledge I gain in life with wisdom. A knowledgeable person knows a Tomato is a fruit, a wise person knows not to put a tomato in a fruit salad. ;)

Interests

I have many interests. I spend a lot of time in the mountains to the west of the city and have spend many a weekend in the back country hiking/fishing/mountain biking. I'm very familiar with the area, and have some topo maps, which might come in handy for you travelers! Being a musician I tend to be in the loop when it comes to arts and cultural events in Calgary. Of course I attend orchestra concerts, jazz show, ballets and operas...but I'm also a fan of music in general and get out to pop concerts too. I enjoy the Stampede and yes I even know how to two step! I also like sports, especially hockey.

Music, Movies, and Books

Gustav Mahler and Brahms are my favorite classical composers. My favorite rock band is Soundgarden. I enjoy reading books on religion, sociology, history, and philosophy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was snorkeling in the Galapagos Islands and a shark swam under me! It was just a reef shark...but I didn't know the difference at the time. I also enjoyed scuba diving in Cuba.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a good deal of life experience going to Canadian universities and trade apprenticeship. As I stated earlier, I know a lot about the mountains to the west of the city. If you have any questions ask away!
