Overview
About Me
Hi there! I'm Phil, I'm a filmmaker, software engineer, and a bartender. I grew up in moving around internationally and love to travel and make friends from all over the world. I love movies and books, if you are a film buff or a big reader we will have lots to talk about. I'm also a big baseball fan and an avid pool player.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have a long history with couchsurfing! When I was living in Prague in 2008 I joined and hosted HUNDREDS of people that year, it was really fun and I got to meet so many great people. I have used it for traveling a handful of times, and when I was living in Portland I was able to host again for a few years. For some reason, I stopped using it for many years, I keep thinking the advent of AirBnB had something to do with it, but nothing can replace the comradery and novelty of a great couchsurfing experience. Now that I have my own apartment I thought I'd try it out again, looking forward to meeting more great friends!

Music, Movies, and Books
Too much to write. I just watched Mirror in the cinema, it may be the greatest film of all time. But I have eclectic tastes, I like lots of different things from different places for different reasons.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One summer I bicycled from Amsterdam to Ljubljana and had an amazing time. My brother was living in Amsterdam, so from there I biked into the Rheinland and through the Ruhrgebiet and down the Ruhr Valley, I joined my father in Frankfurt and we cut east into Franken and saw Nürnberg, headed south to Munich, my father stopped riding but I was joined by another friend and we biked through Oberbayern and into Austria via Salzburg (amazing place!), then we did a deadly ride through the Alps and come out through Trigalev Park in Slovenia (the most breathtaking place on Earth perhaps), and through the mountains into Ljubljana. I wish I could have kept riding till Istanbul!
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm big on learning foreign languages, right now I'm studying Turkish, so if you are a Turkish speaker don't be surprised if I offer to host you in exchange for speaking with me :p
