About Me

I've lived all over and now I am trying to write a dissertation for a PhD while teaching full-time; it's not easy. I am happy to show you around beautiful San Antonio. I know the best parts of the river-walk, the best hole-in-the-wall restaurants, and the coolest parts of the trendy hipster-d-bag-crap, (you know what I mean). After Chicago, San Antonio is easy to master. While I am happy to show you around and hang-out, hosting is complicated for me.

Some of the following below is not up to date, but I keep it as a kind of journal. I've had this profile for a long time, like since 2007? I love CS. It's a glorious life-changing platform of freedom, love, and learning. I wish I could gather everyone I ever met on CS into one big banquet hall and give them each a big hug. They made my 20s a lovely adventure.

Currently earning my PhD in Bonn Germany. Living in Bonn, Germany. I've lived in Chicago, Detroit, and Bonn Germany. I grew up in St. Joseph, MO when I was a kid. My profile is stuck on St. Joseph, MO for some reason.

Love. Travel. Explore. Discuss. Repeat.

I am a student at the University of Bonn. I have a wide variety of interests and ambitions. I am interested in education- public policy, theatre, politics, film, philosophy, chess, religions of the world, law, and of course - travel. I often feel torn between many different worlds and endeavors.

I am in Bonn for a year so I can't host, but I'd be happy to meet up around Bonn or Koln and show you around the area, especially if you are from an English-speaking country and need a introductory guide.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I will be happy to show you around San Antonio.

Oh yeah, be nice to immigrants and refugees! They are honorable and brave people holding their heads high through pure hell.

I cannot begin to tell you how upset I am about the pitiful government the US has had since 2016.

I love CS because it stands with humanity in our shared mission to learn, love, and understand each other.

Regardless of your gender, sexual orientation, nationality, religion, politics, ethnicity, or race--I will be honored to meet you and count you as my friend.

I thought since c. 2008 we could take the above statements for granted, and it was unnecessary to say how open-minded you are. But now I feel compelled to make my position clear. I love humanity, and I hate nationalism. Just to be clear, since the US has erroneously elected an orange fascist idiot, I am against all forms of racism, xenophobia, and nationalism. My only wish is to be a friend to all people and learn as much as possible about the world. I am not a citizen of Athens nor Greece, but a citizen of the world. And the world is a great place to be. Former UK -PM, Theresa May was wrong when she said, "if you are a citizen of the world, then you are a citizen of nowhere." Only a failed, bumbling, nationalist-idiot would think of the world as nowhere. The world is our home, planet Earth. Planet Earth has no borders like the ones humans draw on their maps. This Earth God made is rich and boundless with wonder, love, and adventure. The UK, or any other country that only exists on paper, in its laws and political maps, will fade away someday. But the Earth, our one and only world, will still be here teeming with life. I understand political units are necessary to maintain social order here and there, but they are a means to an end---not an ends within themselves. Governments exist to protect our rights, they are not totems of a nation to be worshipped at the expense of others. If you are a citizen of the world, you are striving to be a decent human being in the only real place we have--planet Earth. If you are striving to be a nationalist at the expense of humanity, then know you believe in nothing but paper, and even that paper (laws, maps, passports) will someday fade to dust, but the good verdant Earth will still be here. And as a person of faith, I believe God will judge anyone who turned away a refugee, so he could worship a false-idol like a flag.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went to Guyana - South America for 10 days. It was a life changing experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

I think people who use this site probably agree on most things like: Peace is the best way, we (as human beings) have far more that unites us than divides us...and never spit in the wind.

Mostly there is so much I look forward to learning from people. I want to learn about other cultures...and have a wider knowledge of the human experience.

I could give you advice on the best way to get around Chicago - and the best stuff to do.
