About Me

**I am not "verified" because I rarely have a local number and I'm usually living overseas. That complicates the verification process somewhat.**

CURRENT STATUS

Currently working in Seoul. Leaving in November to embark on a little tour of Europe.

ABOUT ME

Grew up poor, fought my own way to a somewhat "normal" life, but am kinda bored by it. Did a bit of hitchhiking in my early twenties, have lived in at least a dozen cities since that time. Doing what many poor wanderers do- working as an English teacher until I can make as much money doing other stuff that involves traveling.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm agnostic about pretty much everything. I generally feel sad for a great number of people that seem to trudge thru life like it's some sort of checklist, rather than an adventure. I do best helping others in rough situations. It brings out the cheerleader in me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well, if I have a couch that's available, I'll generally offer it up. But currently I don't.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Previously my couchsurfing experience has been out of necessity. I had lost my job and my apartment. I was young and easily won the sympathy of (sometimes not so trustworthy) people, so I rarely had to stay on the street. Things are different now, of course. Sometimes I'm in a new city and I prefer to hang out with a local rather than to go it all on my own. That said, I do sometimes prefer solitude and will either camp or find a hotel, depending on where I am.

Interests

I write music. I like hearing people's life stories. I am still trying to figure out a non-hypocritical way to be a "Good American".

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well, it was pretty amazing that I convinced a guy to let me live when I was hitchhiking at 3am and the guy took me to a remote location, put a gun to me and told me to jack him off. But by "amazing", I assume you'd prefer a positive experience.

I always come across interesting homeless people to talk to. I generally get the most from those people that were cast out because of mental illness caused by drug abuse. You can't always follow their thinking, but they have some interesting perspectives (of course, sometimes those perspectives get a bit repetitive- I'd guess 90% of such people believe the CIA/Aliens are tracking them).
