ABOUT ME

I am laid-back guy that loves life and travel. I am from the US and have lived in several states there. I have living in Mexico for the past two years as a volunteer in the US Peace Corps. I have 10 years of experience as an environmental engineer and hold 3 master's degrees in different areas. In January I will begin studying towards my doctorate in geography at UVIC in Victoria, BC, Canada.

PHILOSOPHY

You just gotta keep livin', man. L-I-V-I-N

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Just a surfer for right now. Hopefully I will able to host in the future.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am new on the website, but have been hanging out with surfers and hosts in Puebla for a while.

Interests

I would say that my interests are quite eclectic. I am a vegan and I love cooking and eating out, especially foreign foods. I like to watch and play sports, hike, bike, kayak, and I am dying to learn to sail. I like theater and symphony, but not opera so much. I love history, museums, documentaries, lectures, reading, and academic stuff. I also like to go out and hear live music of all varieties.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like both fiction and non-fiction for movies and books. I get down with most types of music, but not really hardcore stuff

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1. Watching the sunlight peek out from behind the clouds and the thousands of butterflies suddenly turn from brown to orange and take off from the trees in Valle de Bravo, Mexico, where they migrate every year. Amazing!
2. Seeing the Dalai Lama speak live at Estadio Azul in Mexico City last year. It was unbelievable for me.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have traveled quite a bit and had some interesting experiences. I also have master's degrees in environmental policy, environmental engineering, and waste management and I will be studying my doctorate in geography at UVIC, so I can speak on those topics. I also like intelligent conversation about political and social theory. I also know a bit about meditation, vegan cooking and nutrition, and sports.
