ABOUT ME

I'm a geologist, and I work crazy hours. I also have crazy lots of time off. In my time off, I like to stay as busy as possible, so you'll often catch me on a bike, or a run, or at the gym. I love to be outside, and I feel a deep desire to hitch up my hammock on a couple of trees, while it's still nice.

I love meeting new people. I love hearing others' experiences. As much as I love filling my schedule with events and parties and shows, it's important for me to balance it out with a night or two of reading on the couch.

I try to do as much as possible. I've done *relatively* a lot of traveling, in a small amount of time. I try to just say yes, when it comes to trying new things. The best experiences are the ones that get you out of your comfort zone.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is way too short. Too short to be a hater, too short to set limits for yourself, too short not to live it to the fullest. So that's what I try to do, and I can't complain a bit. :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've couchsurfed a couple of times, and during both, couldn't stop thinking what a great organization it was. Especially in Boston, I got to do all sorts of things that would have never happened, if I'd just gotten a hotel. I can't wait to return the favor. Since I am based in Pittsburgh now, and I have my own place to live, I'd like to participate more in hosting. I love meeting new people and helping people out.

Interests

Synthpop, feminism, the out of doors, cats, traveling, furnishing my new place, vintage decor, running, leisurely bike rides, cooking -- particularly in a slow fashion, playing with makeup, fabulous hair cuts, environmentalism, reading, learning all the time, and on and on.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: I am terrible at watching things. I like movies, but I can't sit still or concentrate on them, unless I'm alone. If I'm with a person, I don't want to watch a movie, I want to chit-chat! The TV shows I'm into are Arrested Development (I still haven't seen the new season, so don't spoil it for me!!) and Breaking Bad.

Books: I'm currently reading Infinite Jest, and I suspect I'll be doing so for the next few months.

Music: I love music. My interests are diverse, but in my head, the Venn diagram of what I like makes absolute sense. Basically anything that makes me want to dance or sing along, I can get behind.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think seeing whales from a small airplane 14000' above Oahu's North Shore, before jumping out of said airplane, was pretty amazing.

I can probably teach you a lot about minerals. I'd like to be a better cook.
