About Me
Hi, I'm Brian (some friends call me Broo). I was an active CSer for many years back in my 20s, and had fantastic experiences that truly changed me. I met several close friends (including my best buddy) through the platform, and I am so grateful for how surfing broadened my worldview over the years. I am just coming back to the platform after a long hiatus, a little older and wiser, hoping to rediscover some of that magic. This is why I do not have recent reviews.
I am an independent, curious, low-key, gay traveler. I can always occupy my time, but I prefer to stay with someone who is interested in at least sharing a meal/walk/drink or evening out together. I prefer slower travel, and just being present in the places I find myself. Good listener and conversationalist. I'd love to see how you live in your neighborhood, what you do for fun, and how you share time with your friends. Even better if you can suggest something totally weird and unexpected to do. I love novel experiences!
To be clear: I do not need to couchsurf in order to travel; I *prefer* to couchsurf to enjoy the company of good people ... and hopefully some of those people will become friends I can cross paths with again. If you feel the same, let's hang/host/ or surf together! I do not write template requests. If I requested to stay with you, it is because I read your profile, and thought you seemed like a cool cat I would enjoy spending time with ;)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I run a one-man croissant bakery in Rhode Island. Amazing? Maybe not. But definitely one of the harder things I have done.
I have more recently discovered the amazing country of Mexico and its outrageously beautiful gastronomy and culture.
Amazing CS experience I will never forget: I surfed a chalet in the village of Dormillouse, high in the French Alps --no electricity, no pollution, no cares. Riding horses without saddles, making meals from the garden, baking wild cherry pie over an open flame, bathing in sun-warmed water and living inside an Ansel Adams photograph for 4 days (merci, Charlotte et Pirouette le Chat)
Teach, Learn, Share
Philosophy:
Follow beauty and kindness. Besides that, I am always learning how little I know. What's yours?
I can teach you how to make croissants (if you have 72 hours!), how to balance on a slackline, or how to make a good espresso/cappuccino. There are probably a bunch of other useless things I could teach you, too.
I'd love to learn whatever you are most passionate about. Share your current favorite song or poem with me?
What I Can Share with Hosts
If you're cool with strangers rummaging through your cupboards, I'm a pretty decent cook. A pretty solid baker. I enjoy sharing those skills, but also appreciate sharing a meal out because I prepare food for a living, and it's nice to not always be in front of the oven!
