ABOUT ME

I'm a specialist at a public elementary school. After work I spend most of my time exercising, gardening, cooking, learning and generally trying to better myself and my world. I identify with the slow movement and look for ways to connect with more people in meaningful ways.

Music, Movies, and Books

Yes please. But in this order - music, books, movies. I like any music that has soul but gravitate towards hip-hip, old country, bluegrass and jam. I love to read sci-fi and fantasy but am moving more and more into nonfiction as the books go by. I prefer thoughtful movies. I especially like documentaries about nature, plants, food, music, economics, astrophysics and the absurd.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was body surfing down a carpeted staircase on my back. It was NYE and I was drunk. I got going too fast and somehow caught my shoulder on the stairs and rolled onto my feet facing upstairs but with a significant amount of momentum vectoring downstairs. I planted my feet on about the 5th step from the bottom and laid out a perfect back flip. I'm not a gymnast. I've never done a back flip before except on a trampoline. I should have landed on my head and broken my neck. Instead I stuck the landing.
