About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Introduce new water and sanitation practices
ABOUT ME
This is actually not only about me, as any couchsurfer visiting us will meet my wife and me. We are married since 1986 and have four children. These however are normally on their own, studying or engaged in other activities. That is also one reason why we can receive you: we have four free fully equipped rooms available. You'll have your own bathroom, too.
We are interested in other people, we love traveling and working in other countries and cultures and have been moving a lot through our life.
PHILOSOPHY
Philosophy is a great word. But we are working for good food, good sanitary conditions throughout the world, freedom and peace.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Feel free to come. Even though Gleisdorf is not very exciting, it lies in a nice area, beautiful for biking or, as we do, unicycling. Graz, the closest larger and actually the second largest town of Austria has an interesting medieval center and is very active in avant-garde art. It is worth visiting at any rate. Unlike the rest of Austria, Gleisdorf is not in the midst of mountains, but the Alps are not far away. So back country skiing in winter or mountaineering and climbing in summer are possible. We have respective equipment and experience and the Alpine Club can provide more.
Oh yes - since we married we have a guest book, the second now. So we'll ask you to contribute to it, with any kind of art you master or just your name, date of stay and address.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We are also member of the hospitality club and warmshowers. With CS we had a few very nice guests and Martin was hosted once by a great family. So we are looking forward to more visits.
Our eldest daughter has used the hospitality club successfully for various travels. A friend from Canada introduced us to an early such endeavour called Servas.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have been working abroad a lot, which was always very enriching. My wife and I have seen four children grow to adult and independent persons. That is a challenging but very rewarding experience.
