About Me

After swapping majors about seven times in one year, I decided to take a three month trip abroad to figure myself out. Seven years later and I've finally settled down in England, along with my partner, Rob, whom I picked up along the way.

I love reading and writing and have recently published two books (Elemental Claim & Think of Me Demon). They're full of mythological teasers as I love ancient history and cultures. I also like learning about modern cultures of the places I visit and always try to learn at least a few phrases in the local language. Travelling should be more than just seeing sights; it should be about experiencing the country.

Rob's passion is in the outdoors. He's been paragliding since he was ten, but is also into canoeing, kayaking, hiking, etc. He also loves learning how to create and design things, having done up three campervans from scratch. He will spend hours watching boring Youtube videos about random tools and other things I don't really pay enough attention to to be able to talk about. Haha.

We're both vegetarian and would love to cook for our hosts or surfers, our speciality dishes being quiche and lasagna.

PHILOSOPHY

Never put off for tomorrow what you can do today.

Don't judge a fish on how well it can fly.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We've couchsurfed a few times over the years and we can't wait to give back to this wonderful community once we have the chance to again. We think this whole idea of helping everyone else out is fantastic and want to do what we can to keep promoting that philosophy. (:

Fun fact, our desire to help our neighbours is the main reason we won out against the other humanoids. The Neanderthals had better tools, better adapted bodies, and more knowledge for the areas our ancestors moved into. They created art and are suspected to have been smarter to due to their bigger brains. But we took care of our sick and needy and that's what allowed us to win out in the end. (:

If you're not sure how to write a CS request, you can check out my post about it here: http://lifelongvagabonds.com/writing-couchsurfing-request.shtml I do try to answer every message, so I'm not sure why my reply is only at 48% unless it's counting who gets in the final word?

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We've done a bit here and there throughout parts of Australia, Europe, New Zealand, and America. The hosts have always been wonderful people to meet and a reel of local information that every traveler needs to experience the best possible trip. (:

EDIT: WE DO NOT RESIDE IN SPAIN ANYMORE! I can't figure out how to change it, but we live in England. Unfortunately we cannot host at this moment. This will change as soon as we can get a mortgage.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Hitchhiked across Australia and didn't get murdered. Not once!
- Went tandem on a paraglider and didn't panic (not even after my sudden realization that I was afraid of heights; lols) And then went on to become a solo pilot
- Walked the fells of Cumbria (doesn't sound like much, but they were the first mountains I've ever climbed)
- Jumped off a 100ft bridge!!!! hahaha, just kidding, was 10ft drop, but still felt very scary (surprisingly given I jump off higher than that into pools...)
- Had a very expensive crash into a tree (flying), but managed to do it without getting a scratch on me.
- Almost cycled into a mamma grizzly and her cub and yet, didn't get eaten.

Teach, Learn, Share

Traveling Tip #1: Bring something you can do over and over and over and over and over again without wanting to go on a murder run.
Traveling Tip #2: When you're lost in the heat and in the middle of nowhere and you come across a campsite with running water, take it - even if you don't think it's the one you're looking for.
Hitchhiking Tip #1: It is common to want to throw stuff at cars after you hit the 3 hr. mark. However, I would advise against it as that dramatically lowers your chance of getting picked up.
Hitchhiking Tip #2: Hours: 7-9, 11-1, and 4-6 are the best times to get a ride (in Oz anyway).

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook you food or share recipes.

Exchange of stories and ideas and conversations all around. I like to talk and learn and experience what other people have to offer.
