About Me

Hello there! :

I am a 23 year old law student from Bangalore, India. I am a dancer, trained in Bharatanatyam and Carnatic Music, both indigenous art forms unique to the south of India. My other interests include feminism , swimming, debating and cooking/baking. I also teach under privileged students in my free time and run a pro bono legal services clinic to provide free legal aid and awareness to different vulnerable groups. I’m outgoing and friendly.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I dont get to travel very much but in 2017, I came to Vienna for a competition and I got to see Budapest, Paris and Vienna as a result. Each country had something to offer and I came back to India thirsty to travel again. I went back in 2018, to Frankfurt, Berlin and Amsterdam and travelled solo, which taught me so much about myself, about being comfortable doing things alone and about the diverse yet similar cultural and societal organisation of every region. I’m now travelling to Australia for the first time, and excited to be travelling through its lovely beaches and natural landscape. Sydney, being a must see, is also on my list.

I want to give couch surfing a shot for two reasons. 1. Its an affordable way to get to visit another country (I am a student and, needless to say, travelling is a privilege and is expensive) 2. I love meeting new people for a place is its people, that’s what one always remembers even years later. Couchsurfing would be the best way for me to really learn and be aware of the complex and rich world we live in.

Its also such a kind thing to do, to let someone in to your home and your family and I want to keep the culture going by doing my bit to host someone whenever I can and where ever I may be. Someone I barely knew in NY let me into their home last year, and we ended up becoming great friends. The opportunity to make meaningful connections with people from different countries excites me.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a social worker, working extensively on making the law more suited to asking and addressing the women question. I have worked with several marginalised communities in India including the LGBT community, ethnic minorities, juvenile offenders and child abourers. It would be interesting to learn about the experiences of how these communities are treated in other parts of the world, to see if the problems faced are similar, and if the solutions can reach out to other countries.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My experiences from India, the cuisine, the art forms, the language, the culture and the history.
