About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To visit Puerto Rico *NOT* as a tourist. I want to find a job, meet people, and learn!
ABOUT ME
I am, as I said above, a student. I've been in graduate school for 6 years! (egads!) I'm taking something of a break from that to spend a semester or so in Puerto Rico. I arrive on January 19 and have about 2-3 weeks of housing set up already, but I need more. I can pay, or tutor English (ESL, or Literature, or writing, any level elementary through graduate), or cook for you, or look after kids or pets, or run errands or whatnot. I'd also like to do some adventure biking on the island, e.g. buy a (cheap!) bike and pack it up and go camping in some of the beautiful local and national parks! I can only do about 25 miles a day right now, but I hope to improve!
PHILOSOPHY
I believe that the individual good and the collective good do not have to be opposed. I believe that lives can be lived in paradox. I believe that human connections are the most important things.

Music, Movies, and Books
Classic Hollywood glam (I just re-watch Top Hat) last night. I host a weekly movie night at home...
Classic pre-code Hollywood (Mata Hari w/ Garbo! The 1937 Jekyll and Hyde!).
Big action movies: Bond!, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, District B19 (hot!)
Kids movies: Over the Hedge, Harry Potter
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I broke my arm (totalled it really, but it's okay now) on the Shubenacadie river in Nova Scotia.
I saw the fireworks on the 199th Bastille Day.
I've been to two Marches on Washington.
I've seen Cesar Chavez' grave.
I've met Jesse Jackson.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach English at a lot of levels.
I can teach second language acquisition techniques.
I can teach a lot of stuff about cooking. I'm learning gluten-free baking and it's fun.
I am learning about bicycle repair and by the time I travel I should know a lot about that.
I can teach someone to read music.
I can teach someone to hand sew.
I can teach interpersonal pre-negotiation for complex situations, and teach about consent.
I can teach candle-making.
