About Me

ABOUT ME

I grew up in a small suburb just outside of Pittsburgh. This makes me a Steelers/Pirates/Penguins fan!

I like to stay low key during the week and then, pending on the company, go out on adventures over the weekend. Usually this involves grabbing a regional train to Philly or driving down to University of Delaware. I am also an average cook - my spice cabinet making me look way better than I actually am.

PHILOSOPHY

From my experience (albeit limited) I have never encountered too many bad people; and when I was traveling no one hesitated to help me out. Some even went above and beyond that inviting me into their homes for a bed, or food/tea. This kindness is something I want to mold into a trait. So I guess my philosophy is to embrace kindness and openness when directed at you and give those things back to the world, whenever possible.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I find this to be so cool. I stayed in a few hostels when I first traveled by myself and enjoyed the fact I could meet a local (usually the guy working) and a bunch of other people; it took a load off my shoulders knowing I had a place to socialize with people with similar interests as me (I mean we were all staying at the hostel, right?) Couchsurfing seems to be the stateside version of this, and location aside it makes it easier to really get the feel of the local scene, since you have a native giving you tips.

Interests

As cheesy at it sounds, I find my work to be wicked cool. So I try to stay current on any reading material I can find.

I enjoy Ice cream, perhaps way to much for an "Adult", listening to music, going on road trips, experiencing new things, and hookah.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I helped build a tricycle that could be used by a quadriplegic woman. That was pretty neat.

I also managed to out drink everyone at a polish bachelor party. I don't think I can top that one.

What I Can Share with Hosts

When trying to find a host, I try to treat it by the online dating approach. "Are we similar?", "do we have anything in common?", questions like these are important because if answered correctly, it allows me to bring a lot more to the table than just watching TV and having small talk. Maybe it works out that I am awful at the harmonica, and you are too, so we can be awful harmonica players together! After all, it's about the experience of this whole thing, not just the couch.

I'd hope that people trying to stay in my pad would take the same approach.
