About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To win the war against boredom, indifference, procrastination and laziness. It's pretty even at the moment, however.

ABOUT ME

It's quite difficult to write about yourself without being conceited.
Problem is, you kind of sound conceited when you try to avoid it.

PHILOSOPHY

Oh god. Whatever I write here I'll change tomorrow, so I won't even bother.
For those who haven't recently written their profiles, I'll remind you: there's a few guiding questions underneath the 'personal philosophy' section. One of these is 'Why do you live your life? Feelings? Thoughts?'

Hardcore! I'm very sorry Couchsurfing, I do try, but I'm just not that open. I'm of the opinion that anything publicly displayed is open to criticism, and I'm not willing to invite criticism on that particular subject! Feel free to tell me I've got stupid hair however.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Hosted a bit when I was in Berlin, and will hopefully be doing so again soon.
You need a house for that kind of carry on though. First things first.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've mostly hosted, which I enjoy. My houses usually have plenty of vagabonds from wherever traipsing through. Unfortunately no longer; as an exchange student I've been placed in housing unsuitable for guests.
Although homely in my humble opinion, my best friend described it as like a 'prison'. There's actually not enough room for a mattress on the floor next to my single bed. It's good though, it appeals to my fantasies of cathartic asceticism.

Interests

Live music (anything with guitars, drum and bass), circus and street performing, stand up comedy, travel, hitchhiking, body piercing/tattoo, coffee, literature, and football!
There's others, too, but these are the most important ones.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: The Picture of Dorian Gray, Catch 22, Anything by Joe Bennett, Schlaughterhouse Five, and plenty of others that have had less of an impact.
Movies don't tend to grab me so much. Music is very important to me, but I feel listing your favourite bands on a networking website is a little pretentious. Besides, they're so obscure; you wouldn't have heard of them :P

New additions: "The Lazy Boys" by Carl Shuker (a kiwi writer), 'The Bell Jar' by Sylvia Plath, "Down and Out in Paris and London" by George Orwell.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once saw a massive chunk of a glacier, perhaps the size of 30-40 houses at least (but there's no way of really knowing), snap off its perch and explode in the bottom of a valley as if Dresden just got ice-bombed. I've never seen anything like it before or since.
I can only presume my dad and I were the only ones to know that it ever happened, since there was nobody else around.

I was in an earthquake once. Quite a big one. That was pretty messy.

Teach, Learn, Share

Juggling, making coffee, balancing chairs on your chin! My skills are numerous, yet limited and impractical.
If anybody wants to teach me how to build a house, or plant a garden, I'm all ears (and hands).

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France

Countries I’ve Lived In

Australia, Germany, New Zealand, United Kingdom
