About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn from others, share experiences and have a great time while doing it!

ABOUT ME

Hello, I'm Tyler Nimon! I'm currently living in Kobe, Japan with my wife, Erica. I'm a guitarist and music producer and have played music ever since I can remember. I am also very interested in writing and communications.

PHILOSOPHY

To sum it up, I believe strongly in the golden rule...you should never do anything to another that you would not like to have done to yourself.

Above most things in my life, I cherish music. Music is something that transcends cultural and social boundaries and is something that everyone loves. As a musician, I feel it is my obligation to share my talent with those that would enjoy it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I try to host when I can, but my living space isn't allowing of that, unfortunately. I've had so many great adventures couchsurfing and have met so many great friends through it!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

As I come back to update this section, I'm filled with emotion and nearly speechless. Just reflecting on the times I've had while couchsurfing, the people I've met and the friends I've made, it's hard to believe that it all was brought together by this website.

From couchsurfing, I have met people that I will be in contact with throughout my life. People that I feel as close to as family. No one can take all of those great memories and dear friends away from me. In the end, I truly have couchsurfing to thank.

Interests

I'm interested in so many things that it's hard to just write them down in a little box. Philosophy interests me, but I sometimes don't even count that as an interest, as I think about it and read of it seemingly involuntarily. I love music and have been playing since I was seven years old, starting with the piano, then moving on to the trumpet, guitar, bass, ukulele, drums, harmonica, ect.

Music, Movies, and Books

I really enjoy all kinds of movies. Psychological thrillers and art films are usually at the top of my list. Really enjoy classic films as well.

I love so many different kinds of music, and as a musician, I can appreciate any music for its musical value and content.

I read quite a bit too. Some of my favourite authors are H.P. Lovecraft, Robert Bly, James Allen, H.G. Wells, Dale Carnegie, Napoleon Hill, and George Martin.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There are so many amazing things I've experienced that I could list, but to me the amazing things are the little things. A beautiful drive in the mountains. A night-long conversation with new traveling friends. Feeling like family with near-total strangers.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach someone to learn their first tune on the guitar, or teach a new song to an experienced player. I love talking about the world with people from all over; it's amazing to see how much we all have in common.
