Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
...to become the best possible version of myself :)
ABOUT ME
I love exploration and adventure, creating strong personal connections, stories and philosophical conversation, the beauty of the ocean, mountains, forests and stars, the feeling just before a storm, breaking conventional thinking, expanding consciousness...
PHILOSOPHY
have an open mind, and think for oneself
live authentically
love unconditionally
find and question our deepest assumptions
wonder, imagine, and dream...
become increasingly self-aware
keep asking why
really listen to people
wisdom is greater than technology
cooperation is greater than competition
overcome fear... take risks... make mistakes... and keep learning :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I host travelers, and I've had the opportunity to stay with some great people throughout Europe, Israel and Asia! I've gone horseback riding with CSers outside of Beijing, and met up with CSers and American expats for a fun night in Prague. I've crashed with Mongolian nomads on the steppe, star-gazed with CSers in the Dolomites, explored fissures at the dead sea... and hope to meet many other great people in many other great places!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've hosted since 2008, and nearly every single experience has been positive. I've surfed in France, Switzerland, Belgium, Italy, Germany, Austria, Romania, Bulgaria, Israel, China, Mongolia, and in the USA. All terrific experiences!
Interests
Indoors? Listening to music, reading books and insightful blogs, dancing, watching the occasional movie. I don't do the TV thing much.
Outdoors? Going on adventures... hiking, swimming, biking, climbing stuff, jumping off things (into water, hopefully), hashing, riding my motorcycle, finding beauty in places things and people. Recently discovered an interest in hang-gliding and flying airplanes... and rediscovered an old interest in riding horses.
Music, Movies, and Books
Movies - there are so many, where do I start?
Music - I'm a rock and roll guy, but I've been discovering that I also like ambient and electronic... Favorite bands include U2 & Black Lab.
Books - A Soldier of the Great War, The Dark Tower series, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Hyperion series, The Blood Meridian, A Winter's Tale, Beach Music, The Stand, The Child Thief, The Ground Beneath Her Feet, The Stars My Destination, More Than Human, Getting to Yes with Yourself, Happiness (by Matthieu Ricard), The Book of the New Sun, The Nargan and the Stars... and so many more....
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Randomly celebrated Passover with a entire family of Orthodox Jews (and some various Israelis) in their home above a synagogue in Bangkok Thailand after meeting a large group of Israelis on the street outside my hotel (who were cheering an Israeli-Greek basketball game), after coming home from a bar/club where I just met some cool Thai people. I had a buzz from the flask of whiskey stuck in my pocket, but I'm pretty sure nobody minded (if they did I had no idea; they were all speaking in Hebrew). We held hands, we sang songs, we pounded on the table, we danced, and we told stories.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can share my recent experiences about creativity, consciousness, and the human mind... or I can teach you how to do a handstand :p
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can tell stories, or simply listen. But most of all I enjoy discussing ideas, philosophy, and whatever interesting things flow from the conversation....
