ABOUT ME

I am a Biologist. There is nothing that fascinates me more, or that I find more beautiful, than the living form. I am enamored by the life that we living creatures have endured, and the stories that we have to tell. I love eating good food, breathing clean air, and the taste of a good drink. I most enjoy candid conversations and listening to intellectual debate. Though I have experienced a great amount of loss in my life I am constantly reminded of the good works left to do and the good people that surround me and those I have yet to meet.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I make a point to never live anywhere without a comfortable futon and a spare bedroom to offer to friends. I love to cook and entertain guests. I pride myself on giving more than I take.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While working at the Kodiak Fisheries Research Center on Kodiak Island, AK I spent a day filling in for a automatic focus on a LADAR rig suspended through a hole in the floor of a plane's fuselage. Since the mechanical focus had stopped working and spare parts would take some time to get there I hooked my feet around the legs of the copilot's seat and hung upside-down through the hole to turn the focus dial on the camera by hand. The plane had to get very close to the water and some times I'd get a spray when a whale would breach.
I have a few more stories about that job if you ask.
