About Me

Born and raised in Montreal, Canada. I’m a full time art teacher and have worked in Montreal, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Vietnam and now Paris. South America and Europe for about a year. I’ve been to 64 countries....I love to travel, eat, meet new friends around the world, and learn about new cultures. I love to cook and hope to open up my own art gallery/ restaurant one day.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I heard about couch surfing back in 2010 from other backpackers while I was traveling across Asia. I love the concept of staying with a local, getting to know their culture, learn their language and to meet new people that can be lifelong friends. When I first joined it was just to meet new friends to have a coffee, or to travel and explore together while in a new city. I met some of the coolest people and they showed me around Hangzhou in China, we went for drinks and dinner afterwards , then one of the girls hosted me that night. Since then I've been trying to use couch surfing whenever I travel.

Interests

I think I’m quite adventurous. Any opportunity that I have to travel, meet new people and see new places, I'm there. I'm into cultural exchange and I'm also a huge foodie, so I love to eat and try different food around the world.

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC: Jazz, contemporary remix, classical, rnb, hip hop, pop, alternative

MOVIES: There's something about Mary, girl interrupted, I am Sam, titanic, basketball diaries, the joyluck club, basic instinct, the departed, all Jet Li movies (I love action movies) and most foreign films and documentaries

Books: First you killed my father, Only 13, the joyluck club, Aman the story of a Somali girl and all books that are memoirs or biographies based on either growing up in third world countries or during war times.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm part of the global issues network club since 2013 and I've trained and mentored middle schoolers to join the club and to focus more on global issues, helping others in need through fundraising campaigns and to learn about sustainability. I offer my time for free to create awareness about world issues. In March 2016, I organized and hosted a global issues conference in Shanghai over a weekend and hosted over 300 people interested in learning about how to engineer our future. Currently in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, I am continuing this network with a group of motivated high school students in hopes to get Vietnamese students out there to take action and make some positive and sustainable changes for their country.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've been a teacher and mentor for teenagers and adults for over 16 years. I'm a strong believer in lifelong learning. Knowledge is gained mostly through traveling and we should all be sharing and caring for one another, without always thinking about making profit. If everyone shared this same mentality the world would be a happier place. Educate each other, we can't do it alone.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can teach you English or we can talk about art, movies, food or current global issues (or even politics). I love to cook so if there’s time we can do that together too. I've traveled to 64 countries and can share all my crazy stories with you....guaranteed a good laugh!
