My name is Mike and I am from Minnesota, USA. The past several years I have worked in Marketing.
I am open minded and willing to give most things a try. I am excited to learn more about and fully immerse myself into whichever culture I end up having the pleasure of being a part of. I am a pretty low maintenance and go-with-the-flow kind of guy. Also, in 2021 or 2022, I am hoping to gain my Luxembourg citizenship...yippie!

Interests

I coached youth basketball for 8 years, like to play pickup games of American football with my friends when the weather is halfway decent. I love to bike our local chain of lakes in the summer (I swear...it really does get warm in Minnesota. During the winter (and the rest of the year for that matter) my friends and I have been playing a lot of disc golf...there are tons of free courses nearby!

I also enjoy hearing about the goings on in the world, so I can better develop a picture of what the world is really like. My last roommate was from India and we frequently went to Indian buffets (my favorite cuisine as of now).

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a sucker for the old jams of the 70's and 80's. My favorite band is Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD). I enjoy rock, pop, new wave, doo-wop, old-school hip hop, and most genres to be honest. I even like current artists like Angel Olsen, Beach Fossils, Beach House, Bleachers, M83, MGMT, and yeah...even a little Taylor Swift.

I am sucker for dramas and documentaries, but like most things except for musicals.
Some of my favorites are: 21 Jump Street, American Psycho, Braveheart, Coming To America, Planes, Trains, & Automobiles, Shutter Island, The Wedding Singer...

I mainly read non-fiction now, but I have fond memories of reading the entire Harry Potter series. Some of my more recent favorites would be: Steve Jobs, Escape From Camp 14, Gone Girl, and The Disaster Artist.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Several summers ago, some friends and I went hiking and canoeing for 5 days in the Boundary Waters. We were hours and hours away from anything resembling civilization. It was just us and nature. It was a bit startling, humbling, but altogether, exhilarating.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Other than the above items listed, I can share my experiences and perspectives of living in America and the frozen tundra that is Minnesota. I am not a great cook, but I can probably make you an authentic Minnesota hot dish, if you'd like to try. I would just really enjoy sharing good conversation with you, so that we will both gain something from the experience.
