About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live each day with boundless enthusiasm and explore the world and everything in it with infinite curiosity

ABOUT ME

I'm a fun, optimistic person who is in love with life. There's lots I'm passionate about, traveling being a major one. I love to see new things and meet new people, and I cherish every day of my existence, as every day is a new adventure!

PHILOSOPHY

Impossibility is an excuse in life!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've surfed with people in Europe and the United States, and though I wish to host people unfortunately the opportunity has not come up yet.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I love couchsurfing and I have not had a negative experience so far. I love meeting new people and it always give me a feeling of security to know that, when I arrive at a strange new place, couchsurfers out there are willing to trust me and take me into their homes. With couchsurfing, it's almost as if you're never without a friend in foreign places. I've met some wonderful people along the way and learned a lot about other cultures, and my travels have definitely been more terrific and colourful because of couchsurfing!

Interests

Sports: badminton, dodgeball, ultimate, skiing, tae kwon do, swimming, volleyball...really depends on the season. Recently picked up frolf (or disc golf, a mixture of frisbee and golf) and looking for places to play. Don't like watching sports though...drives me crazy not being able to participate in the action.
Writing: I've written some short stories, articles, poems, and published even less.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I play piano, flute, tenor saxophone. I listen to jazz, pop, rock, classical...pretty much anything pleasant to the ear.
Books: Too many to name! I'd say my favourite American authors are Steinbeck and Fitzgerald, because one makes me cry and one makes me think. I love all genres, science-fiction: Orson Scott Card, Asimov, Clarke...and then we have the British fantasy writers category: Pratchett, Pullman (love love LOVE the Dark Materials)...recently read A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Housseini, highly recommend it. Classics, mysteries...I'm big on books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- The Cabot Trail in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia on the east coast of Canada. I was repeatedly mesmerized by the colours, the solitude, the serenity, and the top-of-the-world feeling one gets on the hikes at this corner of the earth, especially on the Skyline Trail and Meat Cove.
- Dancing with strangers on the streets of Dublin, Ireland during St. Patrick's Day, the camaraderie and laughter that is contagious among locals and foreigners alike that weekend.
- Celebrating Diwali at an elderly home and orphanage in Hubli, Karnataka. It was wonderful to see joy on those who are less fortunate than yourself, especially when you realize that joy comes for just a small amount of effort on your side. Plus, seeing the kids' faces lit up when they receive pencils and notebooks for gifts made me so much more appreciative of the things I've taken for granted in my life, like stationery and education.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Romania, Spain, Switzerland, United States
