About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To never allow the weasels to drag us down.

ABOUT ME

We love to cook and eat, to drink wine and engage in good conversation (about almost anything), to read and explore ideas, to take our time and let life manifest, to hear a great band or check out an art gallery/exhibit, to meet new people in new places, explore the outdoors or talk over a cup of coffee or a beer, and we are both very content with how things have gone for us thus far.

We are a young married couple in our mid-late twenties and we tend to get along with just about everyone that we meet. We consider ourselves very open-minded, and we are always looking for ways to expand and diversify.

Any ideas on where to get good local food, good local brews for a reasonable price, check out good live music or find a great gallery or public art installation would be much appreciated. We hope to meet you.

PHILOSOPHY

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We will always make time to meet up for a coffee, a drink or a conversation if you're in the Syracuse area, and we'd love to meet up with you if we are in your area.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Well, we have never CouchSurfed 'formally,' but we have more or less been surfing couches throughout the US for the past 10 years without really knowing what exactly we were doing by name. Now they have a name for it, and now we are ready to do it for REAL. Can't wait to meet you!

Interests

We are especially into events, experiences, ideas, people, foods, beverages, artifacts, places, and ways of life that are unique to a given area or a given culture.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music interests range from jazz, reggae, funk, Afro-Cuban, and bluegrass, to blues, old school hip-hop, folk, avant garde, and soul.

As far as authors are concerned, I particularly enjoy Aldous Huxley, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Tom Robbins, Marcel Proust, Hunter Thompson, Oscar Wilde, Thomas Pynchon, and many, many others. Holland reads just a lot of everything and anything, but especially enjoys books that bend reality and offer new worlds or ideas.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The Mayan ruins at Tikal were amazing. We tend to find something great in most of our experiences, but there really does seem to be a palpable energy at the ruins. Roots run deep... Oh, and we love the cities of Berlin (for its welcoming international, young vibe) and Amsterdam (the people are amazing and the city is beautiful).

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd like to think that after sharing a drink, a conversation or a meal together that we would both walk away with something of substance.

Meeting a new person always feels like learning something.
