About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To write an article.

ABOUT ME

I am in Heidelberg studying for two years, until June 2009. I'm trying to learn Persian. Other than that, just trying to find a way to wrest a Masters' from the hands of the University of Heidelberg.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe in progress. We must exist for the next generation in hopes of eventual utopia. Whether this is achievable or not is debatable. What is not debatable to me is that we must strive to move in a forward direction, rather than resign ourselves to the status quo.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite Movies: Waking Life, The Royal Tennenbaums, Bad Santa... too many to really narrow down.
Music: My favorite bands are Modest Mouse and The New Pornographers. I also like Sufjan Stephans, Nick Drake, Nirvana and TV on the Radio, among others, naturally (those are just some standouts). I sang in the USNA Men's Glee Club for 4 years, and played trumpet regularly from 6th until 12th grade and intermittently since then. Favorite instrumental pieces(classical, although not in the strict sense) are Pictures at an Exhibition by Mussorgsky, Ravel's string quartet movement two, Verdi's Requiem.
Books: Love lots of them- read all the time I have to do so. Favorites: Starship Troopers by Heinlein and Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. Also, a biography of a man named John Boyd, called (appropriately) "Boyd" was very influential to me. Next to Abe Lincoln, one of my heros.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
