About Me
SO SORRY BUT BECAUSE OF COVID-19 - WE ARE NOT ABLE TO ACCEPT GUESTS RIGHT NOW.
WE ARE VERY BUMMED...ESPECIALLY BECAUSE WE CANNOT TRAVEL ABROAD EITHER!
Please read our entire profile. It is both me and my husband who host travelers when we can. We travel a lot ourselves. We also pick up folks from PCT-JMT and give them rides or let them stay and do laundry, shower, etc... when we are home.
We love to host people from everywhere, when we can, and are not on the road being hosted by fabulous CS hosts ourselves.
ABOUT US
First and foremost, if you do not have any references and have not hosted any couchsurfers or been hosted .. especially for a few years, and have not 'Verified' at least your phone number or address with Couchsurfing, then in terms of safety, we will mostly likely decline your request. That said ...
We are a worldly couple, love to travel, work hard, play hard and know the importance of having a safe place to stay when traveling around the world. However, BEWARE....we do live in the mountains so the weather, especially in the winter, can change in a NY minute. ALWAYS CARRY CHAINS when visiting the mountains and read up on high altitude sickness...it happens. We are also not a party house. We are mellow young grandparents who love to travel and host other travelers, paying it forward.
PHILOSOPHY
Dan: If you are not living life on the edge, you're taking up too much room.
Stacey: Just as I'm taking my last breath...way in the future of course.., I want to look back and say, "Gee, that was a blast!"
PS-Sorry, no pets permitted as wife is allergic.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW WE PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We host travelers from all over and use CS ourselves when we travel. TRAVEL ADVISORY!!! During the winter months you CANNOT come to visit the east side of the Sierra through Yosemite National Park nor can you get to Yosemite from our area during the winter. Highway 120 (Tioga Pass) which goes through the park from our side, and down to Highway 395 in Lee Vining, is CLOSED FOR THE WINTER!!!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
So far so good, hosting and being hosted. We do appreciate when people let us know when they have to cancel so we can make other plans. FYI...if you plan on a visit and want to go to Yosemite National Park between October and April..please check the Yosemite website for road conditions to make sure Tioga Pass (Hwy 120 East) is open. 1-800-GAS-ROAD is the CalTrans number for road conditions.
Interests
We don't party and go to bars etc...but have had the younger crowd stay with us because it's a safe environment. We love to cook, hang in the forest, hike, watch movies, read, play SYZYGY, Scrabble and backgammon and TRAVEL!

Music, Movies, and Books
Too many to list...but OUTLANDER is right up there. Anything by Ken Follit and any autobiography about a classic rock artist, scientist, Thomas Jefferson, space, the metaphysical, anything that will promote interesting conversation.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hichhiked all over Europe and around the world. We live in the Sierra Nevada! And the Lightning Field in New Mexico is a MUST for any living human! We CS'd in Iceland! A must for adventure travelers...going inside the volcano was breathless! Dan's Uganda adventure makes for good dinner talk. Had great CS adventures on our 2016 XCountry adventure. Spent 3 months in the Southern Hemisphere in Winter/2019 and used CS in Tasmania/New Zealand/French Polynesia.
Teach, Learn, Share
Between the both of us we have visited or lived in many other places on this planet.... We believe in forgivness and hope for humanity.
What I Can Share with Hosts
We're on the older highway so.... a lot! Places to see and things to do in the Eastern Sierra, and all of California.
