ABOUT ME

Wow this is hard! :-) Well, if I base myself on others, I'd say I'm calm but with occasional outbursts (positive and negative), I have a dry humor (I love English humor!) and play very well guitar (though I don't agree with that). One thing I'm sure about is that I'm fucking excited about this whole couchsurfing thing! Hosting travelers is something my parents have done for years, so they kind of passed it on to me.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Trying to host as many travelers as possible, and hoping many will do the same with me!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I started being involved in this project by hosting several travelers, mostly Europeans, together with my two roommates. I hope they had a good time, I always try to receive them well even if I don't have that much time. My first actual surf experience was in Spain, when a friend and I while on Erasmus were looking for a floor. It is only on this current trip through Latin America that I've been surfing people's homes regularly. And I have to say, it's a great way to get around, get to know other cultures, experience households, etc. Many beautiful experiences have crossed my path and I hope (I'm sure) many are still to follow.

兴趣

Music. Music is my passion. That simple. Both active as passive, which means I play some instruments (guitar, bass,...) and I listen to loads of music. I even believe my social life suffers under my music. Well, on occasion maybe. Concerts and festivals belong to my favorite pass times too.

I think second to music, comes traveling. Specially after my first solotrip through Central Europe. The joy of traveling gives me a high that starts from the moment I pull up that heavy bag from the floor. And although those first moments are filled with fear for the unknown, once I'm in the 'flow' it turns into an addiction.

Sociology, politics, philosophy, psychology, languages,... You know, those classes you get in Uni that no one likes? Well, I like 'em :-)

And recently photography has been added to my field of interests. Although I have to mention that I'm still a clumsy beginner... :-)

It is only recently that my interest in books has emerged. When I was younger I used to hate them, but I discovered that there's a genre for everyone. I always try to read a book even if it takes me two months. My friends help me a lot on that.
My list of must-see films is far from complete. Maybe due to my music obsession. Thanks to Stig, one of my roommates who's a genuine cinephile, my microscopic knowledge of movies grows bit by bit. Again, my friends help me on that too.

To name up my favourite music? I think that task is harder than finding a peace pact between Palestina and Israel :-) No seriously, I'd say my field of interest ranges from Abba to ZZ Top. Feel free to fill in whatever you like, maybe I'll like it too!

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Besides having seen some great artists (Roger Waters, Queen, Metallica, Tool, QOTSA,...), my latest trip, which was on my own, has been the best experience in my life so far. Or so I remember.

The decision of parting from my parents and start sharing an apartement with two of my best friends has nourished my soul a lot. Numerous great experiences and valuable lessons learned. Independence tastes good!

And now, my year-long trip through Latin America has been proving an incredible journey full of experiences, people, places, etc. More is yet to come...

Hmm, this is difficult. I'd say I could introduce people to some amazing music (or they me). Maybe learning the first notes of Smoke On The Water? Or maybe introducing a harmless soul to the wonderful culture of bars and cafés in my little pearl, Antwerp. Together with the tasting of one of our 250 Belgian beers, of course.
I'd like to share travel stories and philosophy with others. It enlightens my mind!
