About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Visiting friends all over the world who I meet while studying in Noway

ABOUT ME

It's really hard to write about myself but I'll give it a shot. I think if you read that I'm a German you might think I have this typical attitudes like being organized, on time etc. ... I'm totally not like this!!! Just had to discover that again for myself while traveling through Australia :D
Besides that I think I can describe myself as an open person with positive thinking and who loves to meet new people from all over the world and share experiences, good music etc.

You might wonder why my membername is "Muffin-Man"!? I signed up here while studying in Norway where I baked muffins really regularly cause they gave others a reason to come over and I just loved to have people over in my place! That's why they called me Muffin Man ;)

PHILOSOPHY

"I have always believed, and I still believe, that whatever good or bad fortune may come our way we can always give it meaning and transform it into something of value."
Hermann Hesse

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

While travelling I keep meeting so many great people through couchsurfing. On Roadtrips (Have found people to give a ride in Australia and in America) and of course thorugh surfing itself.
When at home I'll try my best to host people. I don't have many requests cause I'm living outside of Mannheim and Heidelberg. But I'm starting now to have a look who needs a couch in the area. So I'll write them...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I discovered couch surfing while being in Norway. So far I haven't really used it as much as I would have like to. Just in Paris, Australia and the US. My biggest problem is that I go with the flow and don't plan ahead to much.
And unfortunately my flat is a bit outside of Heidelberg (20 min with the tram) and thats why I don't have a lot of requests :(
I have hosted some people from all over the world anyway. But mostly people who got my name and number from other people I know or met...

Interests

It's really hard to write something here cause you always think that you'll forget something. But I will finally just start and edit this from time to time. So this list is not complete for sure! There is no priority as well. I'll just write what comes into my mind from recent experiences...

- going to Concerts/gigs
- sunsets and sunrises
- hiking
- climbing
- traveling by train
- traveling with a Van
-cycling / doing bike trips
- camping
- cooking
- watching sports (almost all kinds, I'm interested in "new" sports as well. Discovered aussie rules football recently for example and love it!)
- watching good movies or even a whole season of a series together with friends
- politics
- computers (had informatics as major in my business administration studies)

Music, Movies, and Books

just too much to mention all. So here just some short descriptions...

my Favourite author is Hermann Hesse
I like Ken Folett or books describing historic times and having real facts in them
While traveling I love to read something about the country I'm in. Just now in Australia I read "Down Under" from Bill Bryson for example..
Recently I'm reading Georg R.R. Martin's series "A song of ice and fire"

I love quentin tarantino movies! But all kinds of other movies too. Movies based on a real story are always interesting (but not always good). "Into the wild" or "127 hours" would be one of those I really like! Movie of the year so far for me is the french movie "Intouchables"! Here is an RSS feed of movies I've seen recently and how I rated them:

I'm not good in naming genres and I'm open to all kind of music. But my favourite music is kind of alternative rock i would say. Just love good guitar music. A concert I have recently been to is Mumford and sons. Loved it! Cat empire is another band I'm going to see soon and showing that I love a mix of all other kind of instruments as well...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

What I've seen:

The most amazing thing I've ever seen were the northern lights in Abisko (Sweden) !!!

What I've done:

Studying and lifing in Norway was pretty much what influenced me most so far in my life. Met so many people from all over the world I still have contact with.
Some of them, especially the amercians and australians, who travelled through Europe after the semester already visited me in Germany.
I already did some travels through Australia in 2012 and USA in 2013, seeing this friends again!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a teacher. So I guess there is something I could teach. I also have some experiences with cheap travelling which I like to share.
And I love to learn something new!

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Austria, Czech Republic, France, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, United States
