About Me

I moved to Bali–Indonesia in 2018 to pursue a far greener lifestyle and escape the city life, but am originally from Bandung–West Java.

I can sometimes be a wee bit chatty–depends on how are we getting along or maybe after a couple of drinks. But I'd rather listen to your stories than me blabbering! I'm definitely better at listening. Since joining CS, I've learned to respect others' cultures, keep an open mind, and not judge anyone by their covers. Meeting fellow surfers have taught me a lot about life, too. That’s generally one of the reasons why I don't wanna be the typical "tourist". I'd rather choose to engage, be immersed, and spend time with locals.

I'm always up for adventures and to discover new places. A small note though, I prefer going to nature to cities. And so, I love small towns! When I'm traveling, I often avoid tourist attractions and big cities but I would–without a doubt–buy a ticket to get to a jungle or waterfall or beach or village.

Chatting over coffee, tea, or beer is one of the best things! Although, I restrict myself from coffee, for now.

Btw, call me Ditta or Mo! If you're writing me or sending a request, please please use Ditta or Mo. I would know that you don't read my profile if you're calling me by my first name. Not that I don't like it, I just prefer Ditta or Mo, or Sabrina (I know Sabrina has nothing to do with my name but I can tell you why). And, I will know that you do read my profile!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've always wanted to make new friends while keeping the older ones because friends are the extension of a family and I've made trustworthy friends along the way! You can never have too many friends anyway, right?

Interests

I LOVE COOKING. Though–you've been warned–I am not the greatest cook, but I've survived. If you happen to have some delicious recipes to exchange, I'd love to learn.

Indomie is the love of my life and I can make you a super tasty-but-not-so-healthy bowl of it. Can never resist the smell of Indomie goreng! Look it up if you don't know, you will never regret it! Pinky Swear!

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC
Mainly all forms of rock, folk, psychedelic, alt, reggaeton, and EDM, like Linkin Park, Metallica, Tame Impala, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.

BOOKS
Some English and Indonesian literature and novels, from fiction, non-fiction, philosophy, and poetry.
My favorite ones are Paulo Coelho's, Pramoedya Ananta Toer's, Charles Bukowski's, and the Harry Potter series.

FILMS
Generally, I love action movies, adventure/sci-fi, war, history, thriller, and sometimes drama.
My favs are Harry Potter and Chris Nolan's movies. Plus, I am now in love with TV series (Netflix or not), like Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon, The Boys, Sense8, Sherlock, Stranger Things, Dark, Black Mirror, The Umbrella Academy, and How I Met Your Mother.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Ate sago worms, freshly brought from the deep forest of Papua in which you have to eat them alive. It kinda tasted like savory custard.

Teach, Learn, Share

TEACH
Indonesian dark/untold history, language, cultures, superstitions? You name it!

LEARN
If you're keen to teach me about your (traditional) FOOD, language, culture, history, interest, or anything, it'll be super awesome!
I always learn each language's swear words and I'd love to learn yours! I still remember a word or two in Romanian, Spanish, and Italian. I should've written it down though :(

SHARE
We can share travel stories and experiences! If you're coming to Bali, I can share everything, except undies. My place is yours as long as you can keep being respectful and mindful of the cultures. I've had unpleasant experiences before so please bear in mind that we are both living in a foreign land and need to respect one another. When in Rome, do as the Romans do.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Sharing experiences and def a good talk ;) I can cook you some simple Indonesian food, but fair warning, it's a slow-cooking. OR we can just cook whatever together :)
