About Me
ABOUT ME
I'm quite adventurous (friends tell me I'm brave to do whatever I'm doing when I didn't think there was anything scary to be brave about - that's when it gets worrying!). I have quite a serious nature but I can get quite animated in the right company. I love live music... often I'm the first on the dance floor!
Politically green/red, I take our responsibility for looking after the earth and creating a fair society seriously. I work as a volunteer in East Africa to try to further those aims. And I play music with a couple of traditional Tanzanian groups.
PHILOSOPHY
To tread lightly on the earth. It doesn't belong to us.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Mostly hosting, which I did quite a lot in the year between my first African adventure and the current one.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've only surfed once, that was with Pelo in Tanzania. It was really good to stay with him and his family and experience Tanzanian life authentically instead of simply as a tourist.
I've enjoyed hosting immensely, especially the feeling of having new friends all over the world. Of course, sometimes I'm sad that I may never see someone again, but that's just part of it...
Interests
Changing the world, little by little. Music. Drumming. Increasing my self knowledge and awareness. Traveling. Good wholesome food, especially if I've grown it myself. Good conversation. Films, but I don't get to watch that many. Theatre. Beautiful landscapes. Art, especially when it's quirky. Wildlife. Travellers' tales. Everything, really....
