About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I let life be the teacher by always seeking first experiences.

ABOUT ME

Hey there! I'm David. Born and raised in Southern California, I'm a free spirit with open expectations and open plans. I travel in search of first experiences and warm people. I think every person on this planet has something important to share, just as every person has a unique culture called their worldview. Who are you? How can we share? What crazy, unique thing is there to see/do nearby?

If there's one thing most people don't get in life, it's play. I think we're all kids who are pretending to be adults. :o) Usually I walk aimlessly and let serendipity show me the way, and it always works out great!

My favorite means of transportation are the bicycle and the tried-and-true human foot. I eat mostly raw (uncooked) foods, but I'm no extremist or bigot. I'll just munch some bananas and laugh with the group over suckling pig.

I meditate, watch ants and listen to birds, love food, climb mountains, play music, and experience art in 5D (painting, architecture, music, as long as a human made it). There's almost nothing I won't try once. I love letting a local show me around locals-only spots. I'd rather chat it up with some interesting people at a hidden niche than join the crowds at the big tourist sites.

I've worked as musician, environmentalist, chef, dumpster diver, you name it, I've probably done it. But money comes and goes. It's inconsequential compared to life and its infinite means to exchange love.

Because the universe always provides, I travel very light (walkable light!), with a small backpack and a guitar. I'd be more than happy to strum a tune or hand her over for anyone else to use.

PHILOSOPHY

I live consciously, let intuition translate for life's guides, and let serendipitous new experiences be my teachers.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

The universe has enough plans for me without mine getting in the way. My intention? I encounter openings in people and places wherever I go. I cultivate wellness by planting seeds of inspiration and nourish them enough to grow on their own, I have some great fun, and then I move on. I teach workshops on nutrition, simplicity of lifestyle, spiritual energy, alternative building techniques, permaculture, and many other things. I do healings using sound, light, and energy to help individuals reconnect. Or I reconnect myself by sleeping in, walking under trees, starting conversations with strangers, and giving random gestures of kindness.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couch Surfing has proven to be full of possibilities. I've hosted, surfed, and played frisbee. But I've also stumbled upon powerful community projects to participate in, seen global collaborations, and experienced how it brings people together in unexpected ways. I'll always be a Couchsurfer!

Interests

Anything nature, indigenous, artistic, fun, tasty, beautiful, or new will likely pique my interest. Couchsurfing, how can you profile a human being? I love everything!

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a jazz musician, so I've explored every kind of music imagination can ring up. I'm a little sore of the Justin Bieber, Texas Country scene at the moment, but I won't say never or always.

The Matrix, El Sonido Del Mar

Nabokov, Foucault, Kafka, Camus, Hesse, Paz, Boland, China Mielville, Ender's Game,

The list could go on to book-length...

Teach, Learn, Share

I teach wellness in mind, body, and spirit. Nutrition, physical body, emotions, perception, self-empowerment, meditation, intuitive yoga, the power of sound, art therapy (meaning dance, music, visual art, soul mapping, etc...) shamanic journeys, you name it! I also do alternative/natural building, permaculture and organic farming, music performance, art with trash, carpentry, mechanics, computers, plumbing, knife sharpening, babysitting, you name it! If I can share something that's needed, I will!

I'm always learning, so anything you do will be fascinating to me. You teach natural dyes and pigments? You collect indigenous stories? You climb skyscrapers? You collect action figures? You knit dog sweaters? You teach tai chi? Great! Let's share!
