About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Adventure in the meantime.

ABOUT ME

I'm a hugger. I am half mama-bird and half little chick--if I'm not helping someone band-aid a part of themselves, I'm likely playing hard, wide-eyed and silly. I love books and coffee and good food.

My profession is pregnancy, infants, and birth--but I have done just about everything (legal) there is to do. I am currently living in Santa Ana, working as an au pair. If all goes as planned, the next 6 months will pay a hefty chunk of my midwifery school tuition. I work long hours during the week, but would love a friend (or ten) nearby to go grab a meal or a cocktail with. In particular, I am looking for someone who is as excited to take weekend adventures as I am. Or someone who can show me the ins and outs of living in this beautiful country.

PHILOSOPHY

I love life and am so very thankful for it. My life has not afforded me the luxury of much international travel, but I have found magic in the everyday, everywhere.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am new to couchsurfing, but I think the idea is phenomenal. I don't have a couch to offer at the moment, but would love to connect with other travelers and locals.

Interests

Literature. Dance. Beauty in the ordinary. Birth. Gender/Sexuality. Belly laughs. Silly reverence. The prospect of meeting a sloth.

Music, Movies, and Books

Steinbeck, Brautigan, Eggers, Anais Nin, Miranda July, Bukowski, Marquez, Toni Morrison, Jeanette Winterson, and good books made for little people. I could read for days on end. Yum.

I love documentary, and dark comedies, and am a damn lemming for all the cult classics. I love going TO the movies, to see almost anything. But only if there's chocolate.

My ears like all kinds of magic: soul, blues,"indie", bluegrass, latin, classic rock...My three most worn-in songs this year are "Zombie Jamboree" by Harry Belafonte, "Somebody That I Used to Know" by Gotye, and "Shake it Out" by Florence and The Machine.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've floated above running coyotes while hangliding, sailed the Cyclades, protested on Washington and in NYC, watched my mom beat late stage cancer, outran a tornado with my car...but there's a reason I'm in birth work. Each time I see a baby born, I glimpse the truest and biggest kind of magic.
