ABOUT ME

Grew up in the country on a mixed use farm (animals and crops), went to University and moved on to city life. Started travelling after University. Have worked in the hospitality field since forever, Holiday Inn and Hilton Hotel, as well as private restaurants. Had my own limousine service for 25 years. However, I used my University education to work for the Federal Government and to pay the bills. Still work part-time at the local Hilton and so when we travel we stay with them :)

PHILOSOPHY

Not at all religous. Believe in the person, not the preacher. Like to have a drink, or more, do not like to deal with the results of too many. Must show some control?

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I enjoy meeting new people. Mom and Dad offered their home as a Bed & Breakfast for a number of years. So, there were times I would come home for a visit and have to sleep on the floor because guests were using the bedrooms. We have no children and we have a spare bedroom. Why host only my wife's relatives? There are other people in the world, too. however, more recently we have slowed from involvement with couch surfing.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have never couch surfed and likely never will. When a pre-teen or an early teen I was made go stay at an Aunt's home for a week in the summer, to get used to being away from home, and to live under different circumstances. So that was the limit of my experiences with couch surfing.

Interests

Real Estate is a big part of my interests, even when travelling I am looking at buildings, their locations and the potential. Mostly I like to travel on a Cruise Ship, or go to Las Vegas, New York City or Honolulu. We have been in at least 22 of the 50 US states. Muriel has traveled way more than me. She spent a Summer travelling through all of Europe. Later, she did a safari in Kenya and another time a trip to Moscow and western Russia. I have been to the Canary Islands, the Caribbean and Mexico and good old USA!!

Music, Movies, and Books

Like to read history and biographies. Like action movies and the comics in the newspaper. Like ABBA, saw Momma Mia 3 times in Las Vegas. Enjoy Broadway plays, musicals, etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Have been to the Grand Canyon twice, once to watch the sunset. Beautiful, even if I am color blind. Was to the top of the New York City World Trade Center before they were destroyed. Been to NYC Central Park and to the Tavern-on-the-Green (now closed). Driven across the San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge, been to Napa Valley, the Redwood Forest, Malibu, the Hollywood Hills and to Beverly Hills. Had lunch at the Beverly Four Seasons on Rodeo Drive (Pretty Woman). The weather in Hawaii is ALWAYS perfect. Very quiet in the Florida Keys but great Key Lime pie.
