About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Live life. Take chances. Never lose the ability to have fun and feel passion.

ABOUT ME

Let's see...grew up in Waterloo...moved to Richmond Virginia when I was 17, then moved to Virginia Beach just to be close to the ocean. Stayed for 8 years, got engaged, had a baby, broke off the engagement, stayed for another year and then moved back here. I work at a mortgage company right now and have been there for 3 1/2 years. Work 9-5 M-F and have a son who is awesome. I love new experiences...I just like to have fun no matter where I am or who I'm with. The weekends are almost like my getaway from the every day boring ritual of my career. Although - isn't it everyones?
I'm a little too strong willed at times, which I suppose isn't a bad thing.
I am serious when I need to be, but can't let go of the happy 9 year old who just likes to have fun now and again. :) Life's too short to be serious all the time!
I like tattoos...have 5 right now and there's one more I want to get. The most recent was in memory of a friend who passed away 5 1/2 years ago. She's my mermaid friend forever. :)

PHILOSOPHY

"A person without passion lives a life without purpose."
"We have only this moment, sparkling like a star in our hand and melting like a snowflake." <- this is fantasic and so true. Why bother missing opportunities. You have to take advantage of every opportunity that is presented to you in life!
"If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun" I LOVE IT! This was said by Katherine Hepburn. I think she had it right!
Enjoy life no matter what. Don't let little things ruin you...life's too short. Being happy is what matters most in life. :)

I read this recently and really liked what it said:
live with intention.
walk to the edge.
listen hard.
practice wellness.
play with abandon.
laugh.
choose with no regret.
continue to learn.
appreciate your friends.
do what you love.
live as if this is all there is.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well...I'm not quite sure yet. Have a few friends who are members...ended up going to a "gathering" last night and was called and outsider. :) I'm not anymore! :)
Next time I'm in VA Beach I'll be meeting up with some CS'ers down there that have been in contact with me. I may go down for the Polar Plunge in early Feb...not sure yet.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Never done it...will be planning a trip with a friend of mine soon though. :)

Interests

I'll try anything once. Maybe twice depending on the initial experience. I really want to learn to snowboard...I've had 2 brutal episodes the first involving a bruise the size of a grapefruit on my inner thigh and the second involved me "catching an edge" and I flipped upside down landing on my head....but I am determined to succeed!

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies - some favs are Usual Suspects and I can't believe I'm saying this but I really liked Eight Below...althought maybe that was because of the actor? :) Music - I like everything! Depends on the mood, right now I've got James Blunt playing in my car although I have been known to listen to anything from opera to country...and yes everything in between. I love to read...depends on the mood I'm in...let's see...Sophie Kinsella is my favourite author for mindless entertainment. I'm reading a book called On Equillibrium right now by John Ralston Saul...interesting read so far. The last book I finished was Winkie...about a teddy bear who gets arrested for terrorism. It was entertaining to say the least.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I swam with dolphins in the carribean this past summer, which was the highlight of my trip. Um - I've also been swimming in the ocean and looked down to see that I was surrounded by jelly fish. They were all dead so it was fine. Oh - yeah one other thing. I sang with a country band in Pennslvania. It was kind of cool being on stage. :)
