About Me
CURRENT MISSION
spread some warmth with music and with who I am
ABOUT ME
I'm an easygoing friendly person. I love music, usually on the mellower side. I play violin and sing, & improvise in many genres, esp folk and some jazz. I perform in a number of groups in the Boston area. I also really enjoy dancing. I live simply & laugh easily. I am eco-oriented - love nature, am extremely concerned about the destructive ways we humans are treating the earth (especially in my country), am interested in ideas for sustainable living and less materialism. I have delved into the fields of ecopsychology and deep ecology which offer some great ideas. I also go through yoga phases, and am in one now with Bikram yoga. I love to watch movies, sit outdoors at cafe, swim in lakes and oceans, a bit of biking, spend time in the woods, absorb the natural beauty around me, and listen to people and find out who they are. For couchsurfing purposes I'll tell you that I have sensitivities to strong perfumes or cigarette smoke, and am allergic to cats, and unfortunately have some walking issues.
PHILOSOPHY
I approach life with a open and welcoming heart and mind. I was really fortunate to be raised in a nonjudgemental way, and I try to pass this general acceptance to people I meet. I also want to do what I can to help the environment, though right now my path I think is through developing my music career.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I think this project is wonderful. That's it so far.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I hosted a dad and son recently. We had a great time. I have lived in a cooperative community, and visited Denmark as part of an exchange program where I stayed with a lovely family for a week when I was 14, but that wasn't through couchsurfing.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books- Harry Potter series, Lemony Snicket series (I know I'm regressing, but they're great!), Thinking Like a Mountain -John Seed. Tom Robbins - especially Fierce Invalids Home From Hot Climates, John Grisham. I stumbled on some fiction writers I really like getting ready for my trip to Italy - Alan Titmarsh, Elizabeth Adler, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Richard Paul Evans.
Movies - Sabrina (the remake), Don Juan DeMarco, Something Wild, Dangerous Liaisons, Being John Malkovich, Working Girl, mostly because I like Melanie Griffith, plenty of others. Getting ready for a trip to Italy I've discovered director Silvio Soldini - loving movies - Pane e Tulipi (Bread and Tulips), and Agata e la Tempesta (Agata and the Storm, and totally into Guisseppe Battiston.
Music - Jake Armading, Rod MacDonald, Girlyman, Dave Carter and Tracy Grammer, Dana Edelman, Rani Arbo and Daisy Mayhem. All time classics for me - James Taylor, CSN, Simon and Garfunkel, Steely Dan, Sting/The Police, Grateful Dead + . I like jazz - more on mellow soulful side, blues, some bluegrass, surf, & latin music.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I was in a band that opened for the Goo Goo Dolls in Las Vegas. Kayaking in the Hanalei River in Kauai was amazing in a totally different way.
