Hello, i am Mustafa Ali from Iraq, Baghdad. I currently live in Diwaniyah city with my family (my wife, my two lovely children and my parents). I will have a house in Baghdad soon , but it is still under construction, so at the moment , i can only host in AlDiwaniah.
Aldiwaniah is near to important cities like Najaf or Karbala or Babylon and it is on the way to Nasriyah and Basra, so maybe you could stop on your way there. I also travel often to Baghdad so we could arrange coming here together if i am avalaible , just text me and we will plan something :)

I am a mechanical engineer working for an international company on oil and gas industry called PETRONAS, i usually work two weeks in the field and then come back home for two weeks to see my family.

I’m someone who like to make new friends, especially from other countries and learn about their culture. I can share my experience growing up and living in Iraq, tell you about my culture, my religion and the way we live. I’d like to think myself as an open minded person and would love to answer to all your questions, so please do not hesitate to ask me anything.

My english is good as i use it for my work, but i would love to practice and get even better. My wife also speaks english but she doesn’t get the opportunity to speak a lot, so she would love to practice with you.

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

I like to host foreigners and show them the iraqi culture and our way of living . I am also interested to learn about other countries and other cultures, i would love to travel to other places, such as switzerland because i believe it is a beautiful country with beautiful nature.

兴趣

Travelling, especially to natural areas, listening to music, classical arabic music but also pop music. I love to play dominoes, in iraq we play it as a very competitive game, if you don’t know our rules i can teach you. I also love to smoke shisha with my friends, travel around in my car and go to the swimming pool.

I can introduce you to famous Arabic musicians. For instance, did you know that a lot of people in Iraq listen to the same singer in the morning ? Her name is Fayrouz and she is from Libanon, if you don’t know her yet, you will do for sure after spending a few days with my family !!

I can tell them what it is like to have grown up and lived in Iraq during multiple wars, but most importantly i would like to share my culture with them. Iraq has been cut out from the world for a long time because of the political situation, and i would like to tell people abroad about my country because it has a rich history and culture that i am proud of and that sadly people maybe do not know about. My wife could also cook some delicious iraqi food for you and your family if you would like.
