About Me

Hello everyone,

I'm Murat from Istanbul, Turkey. It is a great pleasure for me to be in CouchSurfing, which bridges our passion for travel and meeting new people and cultures. I am a long-distance cyclist and work in the advertising and marketing field in Istanbul.

My wife and I cycled 15,000 km in 14 countries between May 2022 and May 2024, from Turkiye to Bali

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

CouchSurfing is just an accommodation system in the minds of some. Some even see CouchSurfing as a "free" accommodation service, unfortunately. What a big mistake! CouchSurfing is the best way to build a bridge between people and cultures. I use CouchSurfing because the best way to meet new people and cultures is through CouchSurfing.

Interests

I love nature sports. Especially cycling, diving and trekking are among my favourites. In the city, I am a museum, culture, travel and theatre enthusiast. I am good with technology. I am interested in photography as an amateur. I like to talk about history and politics.

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't like these kinds of questions. Because the answer can be very long. If you're wondering about the answer, maybe we can talk about books, movies and music when we meet.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The greatest thing I've ever done was to go on a bike tour of Asia in May 2022.

Teach, Learn, Share

There is always so much we can learn from and share with each other.

The most important language, culture and a good conversation I can share with my host on a trip.
