ABOUT ME
I am a positive, proactive, industrious, energetic and fun loving person with integrity. I have a cheerful temperament this quote reflects my attitude on life;
' Where ever you go no matter the weather, always bring your own sunshine '. Anthony J D'Angelo
I enjoy meeting a variety of people from varying backgrounds. Daily I seek to learn new vocational and recreational skills to enrich my life.
I have a curious nature and an inquiring mind, and I am always striving to expand my knowledge, by immersing myself in a wide variety of experiences, throughout life.
"The essence of living is discovering. Indeed, it is the joy of discovery that makes life worth the effort." - Vijay Krishna
I have a spiritual dimension and believe in creator, that has blessed my life in so many ways.
With my rural background I have strong conservation values, and believe in humanity minimizing its impact, for a more sustainable existence on the planet.
I strife for a 'quality of life' with a good marriage, great friends, close family and healthy lifestyle choices, as these are all of paramount importance to me.
I practise this adage, ' Its not the years in your life that count. It is the life in your years! ' Abe Lincoln
PHILOSOPHY
'Aprovecha la Vida'' (Take full advantage of life)
'Things turn out the best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out'
John Wooden
'To effectively communicate, we must realize that we are all different in the way we perceive the world and use this understanding as a guide to our communication with others'
Anthony Robbins
I believe in the scared vows and bonds of marriage.
'The real act of marriage takes place in the heart,
not in the ballroom or church or synagogue.
It's a choice you make
not just on your wedding day,
but over and over again
and that choice is reflected
in the way you treat your husband or wife'
Barbara De Angelis
Marriage is that relation between man and woman in which the independence is equal, the dependence mutual, and the obligation reciprocal.
My motto in life is 'To work hard, and play even harder'
I believe in being embracing and accepting of others.
' A stranger is a friend I have never met before '
'Tolerance, inter-cultural dialogue and respect for diversity are more essential than ever in a world where peoples are becoming more and more closely interconnected.'
Kofi Annan, Former Secretary-General of the United Nations
Be proactive in this life as ' You can't plow a feild by turning it over in your mind '
Be compassionate and caring, and treat others in a manner that you would want to be treated yourself.
Extend & challenge yourself as ' The best adventures are found outside your comfort zone '
Stay focused & determined and follow your dreams ' Persistance prevails when all else fails '
Continue to protect and preserve places of unique cultural and natural importance & beauty.
Be gentle on the planet' recycle, reuse & reduce ' plus ' Society should refect the earths tender environment '
For quality of existence & happiness bonds of freindships are to treasured, and savour moments that are enriching, empowering and exulting.
Attitude is so important,Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it
Charles R. Swindoll
'Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow'
Melody Beattie
My philosophy is summed up with this quote; ' Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away '
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have always had an adventurous spirit, and love meeting people from around the world. This started with hiking club in New Zealand, to which I belonged called the 'Southland Tramping Club' where I would meet people, that were travelling from overseas and I would invite them to stay. So before the internet and CouchSurfing even existed, I was hosting global travelers.
Then my outdoor passion became my job, for do you? 'Work to live or live to work' I chose the later and become a Glacier Guide in New Zealand, guiding interesting and amazing people from all around the globe. I was hosting people I guided, and have many global friends through this experience, as I have always enjoyed having an 'open house philosophy'.
I was introduced to CouchSurfing by my lovely Spanish wife Silvia and it is fantastic, as matches so well with my prior hosting hospitality, for sharing and conecting with people from around the world. So my wife and I look forward to continue hosting travelers within in the C S community.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In my capacity of Glacier Guide, I had the honour of guiding Kurt Diemberger an old school Austrian mountaineer, on a heli-hike on the Fox Glacier.
He had climbed Everest and other formidable peaks, but still in his sixties he was still actively climbing the worlds highest peaks.
I was on a unique pristine glacier with such an inspirational individual, and at the conclusion of the helihike I recieved an autographed copy of his book. 'Spirits of the Air'
It was such a memorable day being in Kurt's presence, that I reflected on Thomas Edisons comment ' 'One percent inspiration, ninety nine percent perspiration'
This is how many notable people have achieved remarkable things !
Teach, Learn, Share
'We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give' Winston Churchill
I enjoy meeting engaging people with varied interests that are passionate about life!
Individuals that are generous of spirit in sharing their life experiences, knowledge and the passion and excitement they have for work, interests and hobbies.
I have an enquiring mind so I enjoy new discoveries by learning much about many things and most subjects capture my interest
'A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions'- Oliver Wendel Holmes Jr.
I have spent many years as a professional Guide/Instructor, so I am happy to share technical knowledge on a variety of outdoor pursuits.
Environmental sciences fasinate me so am I keen to disseminate information about these amazing processes on the planet.
I also desire to broaden my knowledge on world history, politics & geography.
I would like to learn other languages and currently I am studying Spanish and in the future with my wife Silvia's help I would also like to learn Catalan
Many people have inspired me over the years with their generosity of spirit, which was reflected in their caring actions and deeds, so I have tried to do the same with others I have met along life's journey.
Example has more followers than reason. We unconsciously imitate what pleases us, and insensibly approximate to the characters we most admire. In this way, a generous habit of thought and of action carries with it an incalculable influence.
