About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Settle into Toronto, make the most of my newest employment experience, grow my social network and be actively involved within my community.
ABOUT ME
Hello,
I'm a kind and easy-going person who can be talkative and tends to enjoy conversations that are stimulating; if you speak from a place of genuine interest/excitement/passion, I'm all ears! I enjoy listening to other people's perspectives, sharing stories and having lots of laughs.
When I travel to a new place, I love to walk (or cycle). Sometimes I walk all day with little direction or pre-arranged route, stopping at whatever piques my interest in the moment: an inviting person, architecture, music spilling out from a bar/home/rooftop, a natural landscape, a pick-up game of soccer...
I live in Canada, born and raised in Toronto. For 4.5 years I lived in Guelph where I studied International Development and worked at the same time so I could save up some money, which I partly spent traveling :) After graduating, I completed a sustainable urban planning internship in Mexico, worked within the social service sector at a community centre in Scarborough and then in student services at Humber College. Currently, I am employed as a Flight Attendant.
COVID: I am interested in keeping folks safe and healthy to fully enjoy our lives; happy to chat about what we each need to feel safe and comfortable.
PHILOSOPHY
"Don't ask yourself what the world needs; ask yourself what makes you come alive. And then go and do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive."
"My choice is what I choose to do, and if I'm causing no harm it shouldn't bother you. Your choice is who you choose to be, and if you're causing no harm then you're all right with me."
-Ben Harper
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have attended just a few CS events in Toronto; when I travel, I enjoy surfing with locals and attending CS events.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have couchsurfed in Portugal, Spain, USA and Mexico. I have attended a few CS events in Toronto, Canada and Barcelona, Spain.
Interests
Aside from traveling of course, I am interested in playing sports (invite me to a pick-up game of anything, open to trying something new!), eating (open to suggestions and sharing a meal), having good conversations, being in good company, laughing, taking pictures, listening to music, reading, watching movies, and so on.
Music, Movies, and Books
Books: "Blink" by Malcolm Gladwell, "Wayfinders" by Wade Davis
Movies: documentaries, science fiction, adventure, etc. Children's movies that incorporate humour with an important social message/moral reminder are wonderful (BFG - book is good too, Finding Nemo, Inside Out, Disney, etc.)
Music: soul, jazz, classic rock, hip-hop, rap, reggae, dance, pop, latin, etc. - really depends on my mood. I do love to dance too!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
-Swimming in open waters alongside a whale shark was an incredible moment that left me speechless! The story is best told in person :)
Teach, Learn, Share
Hmm...I'm usually able to highlight the good of most situations/put a positive spin/make someone laugh, which is important for your sanity and helps to move through one's stress
. I'm also open to knowledge exchange so if you have something you are passionate about sharing, please do - I welcome it :)
What I Can Share with Hosts
My sense of humour, kindness, compassion, energy, conversation, smile, hugs, a glass of wine, food...haha so many opportunities to share an experience as long as we're both open!
