About Me

CURRENT MISSION
After 6 years of living abroad - in the lovely Vorarlberg region of Austria, then Beijing, China and lastly Croatia - I moved back to my home town in the summer of 2017 and decided to go back to the university. I'm currently finishing my long overdue (15 years or so) sociology studies, with plans to start a master's in the fall. In the summer I'll be attending a summer school course in Aarhus, Denmark, otherwise I have no plans other than to thoroughly enjoy my free time :)

LAST TRIP
Traveled around spectacular New Zealand for 3 months; it was also my favorite trip ever and I really hope to go back again. And again :)

ABOUT ME
Small and talkative, with a big heart and a curious mind.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

In the words of a certain Nobel Prize recipient: "Come in, she said, I'll give ya, shelter from the storm..."

Had invaluable experiences being hosted and cared for by strangers (who became friends), always humbled by the kindness and generosity of people who are ready to help and give their time and energy to somebody who they most probably won't see again (or at least very rarely).

Couchsurfing is a great way to meet extraordinary people, learn about incredible life stories of men and women from all around the world, and I for one cherish that a whole lot. It has opened me up to all sorts of lovely experiences and opportunities and made me a better person - it continues to do so everytime I surf or host.

I am thankful and grateful to have a chance to be a part of this community.

Interests

Love to go for long walks, ride my bike around and always keen to try out new food. Enthusiastic when discovering small hidden gems in daytrips to the countryside and exploring overlooked city streets. I've travelled quite a lot in the last 10 years, plus lived abroad, but I'm looking forward to doing that again.

I used to watch a lot of movies, documentaries and TV series, and I still do occasionally, but now I devote more time to courses, books, articles and videos about psychology and psychotherapy, which are my two new favourite subjects :)
I have always been an avid book reader and that is still one of my favourite pastimes!

Apart from that, I also love browsing through architectural and interior design magazines or websites, watching videos about camper van conversions and listen to various podcasts on topics like art, design, urban planning and history. I think podcasts (and audio books) are also a great way to spend time while on the move, commuting, traveling, running or getting lost walking around city parks.

I am always happy to visit museums and art galleries, wherever in the world I am.

In my past life (ok, career) I was professionally and otherwise interested & engaged in digital, graphic and other forms of design, working in communications, advertising and marketing in general, and I still do an occasional project in this field.

Music, Movies, and Books

Too many too much and much better to talk about this in person. I'm less versed in music, but more than make up for it with long lists of read books and watched movies. Ask me for recommendations! ;)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Used to ride my mountain bike quite a lot back in the hills around Ljubljana, Slovenia. In one season also daily in the winter. At night! That was fun... and cold :)

Other things that sort of amaze me when I look at them objectively are the fact that in the recent 10 years I started my own company and moved abroad (first to Austria, then China), went back to school and did tons of other stuff in between. And managed to travel to a long list of new places! And it's still oh-so-much fun! :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can try to teach you some of the languages I know: Slovenian, German, Mandarin basics, and English of course.

Having spent long years in marketing consulting, we can discuss marketing and business at length, but that's very broad. I can help you with developing your brand or give you some tips on how to communicate your offer to your customers more effectively.

I'm also quite good around computers and web sites (used to code in html/css/php) and even done some IT administration, so any win/mac challenges or other digital stuff you're struggling with, I'd love to help.

And of course I can always give you some tips about using any of the programs in my everyday design toolkit: those are primarily Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator, but I have at least had a look at most of the design software and know my way around some animation & video programs as well. You can always hit me up for some design tips as well!

Other than that, I'm relatively handy around the house, I've once planned and physically made most of the wooden furniture for my flat, so doing some handyman chores involving tools is no problem at all.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Mostly my travel and life experience, in addition to the skills highlighted in the paragraph above. Love to help on any number of different projects, too - since this usually makes for a entertaining story :) So if you need help, you can "use" me on anything from building sites to housekeeping to gastronomy, or anything else you might think of - there's a chance I've done something similar before :D
