About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I moved to Stockholm recently.
Besides all the expats I really would like to meet some local peeps too... ;)

ABOUT ME

My name is Mario and I'm from Belgium. Yes, that small, surrealistic country within the heart of Europe for which you need a looking glass to find it on a world map. :)
My culture and mother tongue is Flemish. My French is good enough to have casual conversations with native speakers, as is my English. I think that knowing more than one language is a big advantage. Especially if you like travelling and I do like travelling a lot! :) I have been to most countries of mainland Europe, except for the ones towards the east. They are still on my to do list. I also lived in Rome for 3 years, when I was working for the European Space Agency as project manager. It gave me the opportunity to see most of Italy during that period. After I came back to Belgium, I settled in Brussels in an apartment. But in order to escape busy city life once in a while, I bought a house in France. It is located in the countryside surrounded by forests and lakes. And excellent food and beverages (read: wine) are present everywhere, which is also important. :)

PHILOSOPHY

Live and let live. How simple can it be?
*What do you mean, you detect a pinch of sarcasm?* ;)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm mostly playing the role of host, but as I'm doing a business trip once in a while around Europe, I use CS to find local people with whom I can have a drink and a good conversation, instead of watching TV in my hotel room.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

It has been fantastic! In such a short while I have had the pleasure to meet so many great people. Simply amazing! More, please! :)

Interests

I will not deny the fact that I'm I bit of a computer nerd, so I can spent quite some time tinkering with technological gadgets.
Trying to improve the world a little bit by supporting both small, local and big, international non-profit organizations.

Music, Movies, and Books

When it comes to film, TV-series and books, they better be science-fiction or fantasy related, or a good comedy or an intriguing crime plot.
Music: everything but: jazz, hip hop, everything ever made and will be made by boys bands (e.g. One Direction) and last but not least, Justin "whining little bitch" Bieber...
