About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I go to seek a Great Perhaps.

ABOUT ME

I grew up in Raleigh, NC and have lived here for most of my life. My parents live here, my grandparents live here, their parents lived here, and so on back through the eons. I'm about as local as you can get. Although my family may not have left a three county area in a few hundred years, I most certainly have. I love to travel, to see new things, to experience a worldview completely contrary to my own. I've scaled the Andes, sailed across oceans, and am hungry for more.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Alas most of my couchsurfing experience has been through others so my profile looks a bit barren. My girlfriend and I have stayed with fellow surfers from New York to Venezuela and had fantastic experiences every time. Although I can't host at the moment, I do try to spend some time with or at least give advice on hidden restaurants to any couchsurfers that happen to end up here in Raleightown.

Interests

Sailing, climbing, photography, music (modern, classical, bluegrass -- pretty much anything in between), cycling, hammocks, and oh so much more

I'm a bit of a tinkerer and a complete finance nerd. :D

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In June of 2008, faced with a long and bleak summer of absolutely nothing to do I decided to do something drastic. I decided to sail across the Caribbean. I found passage on a ship leaving from the US Virgin Islands, and spent about a month leapfrogging from island to island back towards the US mainland. I saw dolphins playing at sunset, explored reefs with sharks, met some of the most isolated and genuine people on the planet, and battled rain and wind hundreds of miles from land in the pitch black of night. After returning a little bit older, a little bit wiser, and considerably more brown I've been looking for a chance to do it all again.

Countries I’ve Visited

Bahamas, Cayman Islands, Colombia, Jamaica, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, United States, Uruguay, Virgin Islands, U.S.

Countries I’ve Lived In

Argentina, United States
