About Me

I am currently travelling with my partner Morgan. We are recently graduated from university and we are seeking a travel experience in South America that goes beyond typical tourism. We are excited to make new friends, learn Spanish, explore new places, and experience how people live in cultures different from our own. We will be spending December - February in Colombia and Ecuador doing WWOOFing and other work exchanges. We are excited to be embarking on this adventure together! Here's a little bit about each of us:

I am originally from the Tri-Cities in Eastern Washington, and graduated in 2015 with a double major in Geography and Community, Environment, and Planning. I am passionate about cooperative economies, sustainable food systems, and community empowerment. I thrive when surrounded by driven individuals who share my interest in the common good. I am eager to encounter new cultures, perspectives, and people that will push my thinking in new ways.
I speak conversational French and am learning Spanish.

Morgan is originally from British Columbia, Canada, but Seattle has been her home for the last 15 years. She graduated in 2014, also with a BA in Community, Environment, and Planning, and for the last year she has been working as an educator in various settings. She is passionate about education, working with children, creating community, traveling by bicycle, and living sustainably. After returning to the USA, she is planning on going back to school for a Masters in Teaching degree. Morgan speaks conversational Spanish. We both are excited to learn more!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Hosting: I am unable to host since I will be away on this trip soon. But when I return to the US, I would absolutely love to host.

Surfing: I'm on couchsurfing not just to find a place to stay. My past experiences with CS have completely shaped my travels in a positive way. The people I've stayed with have made every experience unique and unforgettable. Morgan and I are interested in building a friendship with our hosts and their communities. Ideally, our hosts will be interested in some sort of cultural, conversational, or philosophical exchange while we surf their couch!

Meeting up: Not available to host me and Morgan but want to meet up? That sounds great too!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I stayed on a few couches/beds/floors during a few month study in France. I had such a wonderful time meeting the diverse couchsurfing community. Every experience was different and amazing. I hope to be able to travel and couchsurf again soon! I am always looking for new CS experiences!

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Into the Wild, Across the Universe, Inception
Music: Too much to list. I listen to a good portion of everything with the focus on indie rock. I definitely enjoy going to concerts!
Books: The Story of B, Slaughterhouse-Five, 1984, Animal Farm, All the Light We Cannot See, The Goldfinch

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A few years ago I climbed Mt. Rainier, the tallest mountain in Washington State, USA. Being able to wake up halfway up the mountain and gaze out above the cloud line and see the limitless expanse below was probably the most amazing sight I've seen. Reaching the top of the mountain left me with a feeling of achievement that left me wanting to climb a taller, more difficult, and more rewarding mountain in the future!

Teach, Learn, Share

Morgan and I would love to be able to teach and learn from other members in the CS community!

My skills include cooking and food preparation, farming and gardening, leadership and facilitation, tutoring. Morgan's skills include teaching & childcare, gardening, cooking, art, facilitation; speaks basic Spanish.

We would love to practice Spanish and are open to learning anything you have to offer!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to cook. I would love to share that joy with you. I can cook for you or even teach you to cook something.
I also love to have deep conversations. I am an open book and love to talk about anything. If you have a passion, lets chat and share stories!
Do you have a dog? I love dogs and would gladly spend time with them!
